I recently closed on a deal for a 2020 TRD Pro in army green for $2500 under MSRP, which equated to about $51k out of the door.

Love it. Half the shit that’s on the 2020 Tacoma’s that, as we all knew, would affect the price....is the same shit you all bitched about wanting with the 16-19 Tacoma’s. Now it’s “over priced.”
The fu$k y’all think was going to happen.

Yes I have, my current vehicle is black, and the vehicle before that was also black. They definitely take more effort to keep clean and I think they show scratches more than other colors, but nothing looks better than a clean black vehicle.

Good point. They look good clean. But by the time you put away the bucket and sponge the thing is somehow dirty already.

But wait I just want a height adjustable seat and apple CarPlay. I will trade my bed sticker, the auto high beams, lane departure warning, the cubby under the back seat, MTS and 6th gear.

No? Doesn’t work that way? Shit.

Overpriced? My exact truck went up exactly $200. Pretty awesome for power seat, and going from a 6.2” to 8” with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Shit. I’m thinking about trading my 2019 in since you can get Voo Doo blue on an sr5 now. Lol.

Gawd the prices of 2020s are ridiculous. I paid $33k for my 19 TRD OR DCSB Auto 4WD back in June/Jul.

And this is just a nice reminder of why I signed the dotted line on a 19 PRO for $42.8k. Fck a power seat , and CarPlay is annoying af. I wanted to rip CarPlay out of a rental SUV I had for 2 weeks. Want to charge my phone and the POS would snag my phone into CarPlay mode while I was doing other stuff all the time. Enjoy your 2020 trucks, cause you’ll definitely be paying for them.

I’m gonna have to agree the content definitely isn’t worth the price increase, I mean sure $200 more for power seat on base trims but most are gonna want the leds, stupid 360 camera, CarPlay and all that other worthless sh*t. Buddy just bought a tech and prem loaded 19 for $35.3k, that’s close to $5-6k from an “invoice” priced loaded 20.

It's to be expected. The higher you go up in trim and the more toys you add the less the dealership will take off the MSRP, that goes for any car/truck you buy. Volume to dealers is key, they wont sell as many OR's or PRO's as they sell the SR's or SR5's. Nobody is going to make a "killer buyers deal" on a TRD package of any kind in the early month's of 2020's. And even though sales of cars are down, every year people are paying more and more for them. The stats are true: 1/3 of new car buyers are rolling over debt from previous purchases and staying under water for far longer than they ever had years ago. Average loan term, now think about this because this is the "new standard", is now 69 months!! I've been haggling around for a 2019 and am having a hard time even dealing on those while 2020's are starting to pop in here and there on their lots. People will pay closer to MSRP these days and dealers will take it. I'm not surprised nor shocked at the person getting his 2020 Premium OR at 50k + ext. warranty, as I said in the beginning, was expecting that.

Congrats on your purchase ParadigmShifter, and thanks for being honest about the price you paid. Like most people here, no doubt you worked and earned the money, spend it like you want it and enjoy it.

There are still 2019's in the lot so dealers don't wanna discount 2020's yet.

A 4x4 sr5 DCLB should not go for more than 32k, 35k is trd territory.

    ____
Lol at getting hosed with 50k, that's honestly TRD PRO territory. I would look into a different deal honestly, that's not very good for a trd OR, seems about 10k higher than it should be for a fully loaded one.

A good rule of thumb is dealers will normally discount around 10% msrp on vehicles and a little bit more if you haggle them, but it rarely happens during the transition from last years model.

    Well said, thanks man

I don't doubt where you live that's what they're going for. Phoenix is an entirely different market though, and I didn't just go throwing my money at the first dealer I saw off the highway, I took about 2 weeks shopping around, it's Avondale Toyota if you wanna go to their website and check the prices

I think the base trims are a decent bargain considering the additions. The loaded trims not so much but even then it's just a matter of shopping around for the best deal. Test drove a loaded sport with an msrp close to 45k that the dealership was ok with letting go for 41.5k- 42k which isn't horrible. I've also been quoted 38k for a 2020 Off road DC 4x4 with premium+tech+LED's but it was a manual. There was also a base off-road auto with a few dealer-added options for 36k flat. I'm sure as the year progresses better deals will be available just like the 2019's.

But yeah, pricing is getting ridiculous but that's true for most new vehicles. At the end of the day, it's what an individual is willing to pay for the vehicle of their choice.

With the heavy discounts on full sized trucks (up to $15k off locally), and given how cramped the back seats on the tacoma's are (both wife and I are tall), I may end up going up a size even though i don't really care to. I'm also considering the 2020 4runners but they tend to be even more expensive than the Tacoma's.

Exactly and thats what I was getting at, I've had purchased a few new third gens, 3 of which were loaded (17 with JBL/tech/prem, 2 19's with tech/prem) and paid between $36-37k for them with $41-42k sticker prices. For me I just have a hard time personally grasping how LEDs, power seat, camera and apple carplay amount to another $3-4k. But like you said its expected and what people value or are willing to pay for. Interesting article on Jalopnik last few days and now Wall Street Journal about the impending auto loan debt bubble on the horizon.

I can’t disagree. For me personally, the upgrades that came to the 2020s do matter. I like CarPlay, the power seat provides additional comfort, etc. Does it warrant the price increase? For some it does for others it doesn’t. There are some great deals to be had out there right now on the 19s. I was prepared to buy a 19 Pro for MSRP earlier this year, but when hearing about the upgrades coming to the 20s, I waited. At the end of the day, the individual needs to be happy with their purchase.

And you're shopping a Pro which is totally different.
