actually....I believe $0.65 of each gallon is a road tax passed by voters...

 

It was not passed by the voters.

Federal taxes are not voted on by the voters.
Sales and other state taxes are rarely voted on unless the state constitution requires it.

And even in states like California where it is required, Suckramento just finds a way around it by calling it a fee instead of a tax.

 

OUCH!! Went to Cambria for the weekend & these were the prices posted there in town.....and I thought gas was expensive in San Jose!

i drive by this station once a week or so ... it was $5.81 per gallon for 91oct (October 2012)

$4.19 in CT for 87

 

Paid $4.69 in santa rosa CA yesterday ! Diesel was $4.53

 

That's just nuts... I paid $4.68 for regular at Chevron yesterday and prices have been stable since Sunday.

Back to California and it's 22 different blends of fuel that have to be sold depending on which pollution control district you buy it in.... regardless of the fact that I drive through no fewer than 3 different pollution control districts on my way to work (judging by the prices that I see under "normal market conditions").

$4.01 here in upstate New York. The New York gas tax SUCKS A$$!

 

last night I seen it @ about $4.78 or so out in downtown L.A. it's staying @ about $4.59 or so out in Dena.

I know how you feel. Felt like we were nickel and dimed in California and got nothing back - crappy infrastructure, schools, etc.
