    I believe that.

Our taxes are low compared to most areas which part of the explanation of geographic differences here in the US.

I've seem station within 15 miles but different states have $.60 difference in price.

I'm enjoying it while it lasts. We have I current "glut" I guess but, with the break even cost per barrel being higher than the current price, some of the weaker producers are going to drop out (or some business models are going to change). When that happens, those companies left standing will be getting the prices higher. I wouldn't be surprised see a pretty good increase next year. I've read several reports claiming a greater than 50% chance of recession (Citi is saying 65% chance) next year. Sure cunsumption/demand will drop but, the weak companies will die or trim enough before or during that time that as soon as the demand rises it's gonna go up quick. Oil will be rich all over again.

I doubt we will see any significant increase in gas prices in an election year.

I heard a guy from Chevron who said they need to cut back on supply so the price goes up. He didn't say those words but that was what he was getting at.

Understood. As fuel profit at the pump is slim. That's why most are C-stores now.

I would hope not tho the current guy isn't up for another chance...additionally, I'm not sure how the weak companies can continue to survive.

Government makes more money per gallon than the companies that actually provide the product (take the risks, suffer the losses, extract the petroleum, refine the product, deliver it to the consumer). Here in California, there is over 50 cents in tax on every gallon. The same gallon provides a profit of less than 10 cents to the people that actually do the work of making gasoline. Don't like the price of gas when it goes back up to 3 or 4 dollars U.S. per gallon? Get mad at big government and not big oil. Canadians, you guys have so much oil and so few people, the cost of gasoline should be even lower. I am going to guess it is because you have no refineries and a large socialist benefit program? Now, you also have no Keystone Pipeline to lower the cost of getting your crude oil to our refineries thanks to the idiots in our government right now. Again, government is the cause of extra stress on the consumer.

And blame the government when bridges and roads are in disrepair like they always are. With gas this low it's time to raise the gas tax a little and put all that money back into roads. I'd happily pay $0.30 a gallon more if I could be guaranteed it was spent on automotive transportation infrastructure. Oh wait, no guarantee possible, Boulder would spend it all on even more bike paths.

$3.45/gal in Calgary AB. And that is relatively cheap, at $1.10/liter, its over $4/gal. We need more refineries up here (easier said than done) so silly to be buying fuel from other countries....
