I went to the dealership for my 10K service today. There were 14 new Tacos and every one was an access cab. I experienced a little sticker shock. They were loaded up Sports and Offroads ranging from $38K+ to $42k+. My 2020 double cab Off-road stickered for less than that less than a year ago (granted it’s not quite as loaded).

I noticed when I purchased my 2021 AC TRD OR last Oct that the 2021 trucks arriving later in the year and this spring had many more options loaded on them. Mine, fortunately, only had mud flaps, mats and not much else. MSRP was $38,057.

    Wow...

You can go a bit further north to Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa, CA. I picked up my 2021 TRD OR last weekend for $1,671 off MSRP + Toyota incentives (working with John Coffaney).

I think the craziest part is you finding 14 AC’s in one spot. I think I’ve seen maybe two on a dealer lot at one time, and maybe 5 in the wild. They look great but the backseat is absolutely useless

Yeah, when I bought last year there were only two ACs within the six dealerships I looked at.

I liked the ACs I’ve owned. They worked well for my needs until my two kids came along. When they leave the house I’ll probably go back to the AC.

They are referring to when Covid first hit a little less than a year ago. The factories did shut down causing low supply throughout the country. Demand remained steady so dealers began charging MSRP and more. The effects of this are still being seen as discounts are still not what they were over a year ago. If you look back on this thread you can see that over the past few months things have begun to rebound. Many are getting discounts albeit not quite what they used to get.

Not in CA. General word is that "most" Tacomas showing up on the lots are pre-sold before they even get there. Maybe for not some of the more basic entry level and SR5 2WD trims, but 4WD Offroads and TRD Pros that is the case. You would think Toyota would start sending some of the trucks that are getting discounted elsewhere to CA to balance things out.

Yeah, California definitely gets an asterisk for this whole situation. Crazy over there

Hi All. First post here as I'm trying to get a Tacoma. I'm looking for confirmation on what I attached. Essentially, the dealer won't budge from MSRP. I'll remove the extras but am I crazy for considering a purchase at MSRP??

[EDIT: The $500 rebate isn't available if I bring my own financing]

Depends where you are located and whether you are willing to drive. You can probably save $3 - 5K.

You're not crazy...it's the market that is crazy. I paid MSRP last month. It was that or nothing. Nobody would deal...and if they did it wasn't for what I wanted.
Get them to drop that documentation fee too.

I'm located in the suburbs of Chicago and pretty specific on the truck - what I found is what I want. From what I read here it seems like others are paying MSRP and the dealer told me (not sure if I believe it) that they've been selling Tacomas at sticker since spring 2020.

I had an offer to buy a 2020 in March of last year in the same configuration I just bought my 2021. Back then, they offered me a $4000 discount. Now, at least in Southern California, you are doing well if you're not paying over MSRP.

What Barrister said. Some on here recently have been able to save up to 10 percent.

If anyone needs help with haggling/finding the truck they want, feel free to PM me. I enjoy the back and forth and don't mind helping out. Being patient and overwhelming the salesperson by doing your homework goes a long way to scoring a great deal, even in times like this.

Honestly what we should do is provide our bills of sale, or an offer letter to those searching right now. Then they can find a config similar to one of ours, and use that to get a better price. Doubt the dealer will check VINs...

New owner in So. Cal and I paid full pop with $500 Toyota cash back. But I shopped around. 4 local Toyota Dealers wanted above MSRP 6k, 5k, 4k & 3,600. I was able to find one in transit for MSRP and put a deposit on it. Cement and Army green in any 4x4 configuration sells instantly or is pre-sold. Dealers are pretty much asking whatever they want because people are paying it.
