In the PNW dealers have second stickers. You can negotiate down to MSRP but they will not discount. Especially on trucks with a 6' bed. They'd rather walk you and sell it to the next guy for that second sticker price. I spent two weeks looking for a truck. Walking away from a few dealers that wouldn't discount to MSRP. Finally found one that was allocated with a build date of 5/31 and the dealer took sticker. I told myself I'd never pay MSRP. I've always gotten the $500 off invoice deal or invoice plus $500. Well, to get into a Tacoma now, be prepared to pay sticker. and wait. TRD Off Road Premium DCLB, Cement Gray with tech package and LED headlights.

same story trying to shop around and not getting a dealer to budge on invoice. My local “small town” dealer gave me $1000 off on a TRD Sport, so I took it. Picking it up Friday.

Same in Northern Nevada; I've discussed 4 different trucks with my local dealer over the last 9 weeks and they were 100% sticker price, they didn't entertain the notion of a discount, but they also didn't tack on markup.

Trail Package which I do like the wheels but the lockable storage boxes are too small and take up too much cargo space so I am taking those out. That and the premium audio package / tech package.

Think there is some semantics here. Those are all factory/port options. Guessing the 35xxx is base DCSB and the ~5k you're stalking is the Trail edition package that is factory not dealer. So the MSRP is really the 40k number.

Have the option of reserving a TRD OR with premium in August at MSRP in Norcal for 43.5K. Not sure it's worth it since I'm obligated to pay msrp less any incentives in August.

Demand miiiiiiight go down slightly with some wanting to wait for '22s but from what I've read on here, getting MSRP in Cali is a win. However, I defer to those actually in the state.

ordered a 2021 Voodoo sport double cab 6' auto last month in Calgary AB. Got it for CAD $49000 incl all taxes, fees, etc. Got a OEM TRD Pro grill installed as well as a retractable topper. Supposed to be here next month, 3 other dealers said would be 4 months at least.

Yea but do they still have it on the lot. Or is it 3 months out don't get me wrong I like Kendle would have bought my truck there if I would not have had to wait 3 months. I am buying from PTL got lucky 3 week wait. TRD Silver with upgrades. I wanted. 41755 - 500 discount 41200. Not a great price since their msr was 37380.
I still have my 2016 window sticker Msr was 33730. My cost after Premium. pkg and tow pack was 37968 but my out the door price was 36450 Big difference this time around, but I will have a truck. I put 95k miles on my 2016 sold it for 25k. Bottom line is I hope I don't regret it in 6 mo if things settle down.

I got my white 20 Tacoma OR 4x4 in Sacramento Ca last year in July. They had shortage on tacomas at that time due to the pandemic. I paid $39,232 plus tax. It came out to 43k flat with a little negotiation of about $242. They were marking up prices by adding the factory predator steps . I got $500 off for college graduate rebate but they tried to add $1700 for the steps with installation lol !!! I said hell no but the manager that the dealer ended up giving me those steps for $500 and no charge for install etc that they had put on the truck. I thought I paid a lot because they wouldn’t drop a penny off the truck till they got tired and lowered it $242 to make it $43k flat.

I just reserved a 2021 Army Green Off-Road DCSB. MSRP was $39,900, only add-ons from factory are LED head/fog lights($485) and the technology package($800). My dealership was VERY adamant that they would not be selling it for any less than MSRP due to demand of Tacoma's right now and the inventory shortage. I found the same truck from Stevinson Toyota in Aurora, Colorado with a dealership discount of about $1k which I didn't buy because paying slightly more was worth it to me to not drive 600 miles and not be able to walkout if they tried to royally f me on my trade in.

All this being said, it hurts paying MSRP for a vehicle and I really didn't like the idea of it. However, after doing a ton of research(a few resources below) there's just no way, or it's extremely unlikely, that we'll be able to buy Tacoma's for anything under MSRP for the next year. Stevinson Toyota has 30 Tacoma's allocated to them through July and have reserved 29, as of 2 weeks ago. Cutting to the chase, if you find the Tacoma you want and can get it at MSRP... SEND IT. One thing is for sure, paying MSRP hurts the rear but owning a brand new Tacoma that you really want feels GOOD.

    Final 2 cents:
-Get pre-approved for loans before going to dealership for negotiating purposes
-Research third party warranty prices before going to dealership for negotiating purposes
-Say no to dealership add-ons and drugs
-Get multiple quotes for your trade-in before going to the dealership for negotiating purposes
-Question all "fees" on your papers while at the dealership and refuse to pay any they don't have a legitimate explanation for
-Watch Ari Janessian, Your Auto Advocate, and Chevy Dude on YouTube for plentiful tips on what to do at a dealership/before going to the dealership
