For those near VA, I recommend checking out McGeorge.

I just negotiated (on my Dad's behalf) a new 2021 Tacoma OR DCSB 4x4 with LEDs and Tech pack for $39.3k, almost 1k off MSRP ($40,278).

We also got 27k for his 2016 Tacoma SR5 DCSB v6 4x4 (no other options) with ~85k miles. All online appraisals from Carvana (~23k), Vroom (~21k), and CarMax (yes online, ~25k) were less than the dealer offer. I tried for 28k, but they would not budge and I think that is fair considering a similar year, spec and mileage SR5 was selling down the road at CarMax for 28k and some change.

This negotiation was much harder than the one I did for my OR in late January (8.2% off MSRP), mainly because no other dealers had any inventory that was not presold in the region. It really helps when you can pit two dealers against each other, but fortunately McGeorge did finally budge off MSRP. That being said, they are selling all new Tacomas with no markup, so if you are in the market I would highly recommend them. Also, they have a decent reputation from their parts department on here, and I can say the sales experience was pretty decent as well, mainly for their transparency. It was not easy haggling with a guy who said they've been selling Tacomas at MSRP for going on 4 months now, plus the TrueCar showed the average OR in the region was selling for about $250 over sticker.

Good luck to you all, it is crazy out there but deals can still be had [in certain regions]. RIP West Coast.

just picked up my DCSB MT and paid MSRP. Local dealers were marking them up 4k-10k above so had to find an out of state dealer.

So you retired 3 times already before the age of 30? Not sure how that works, but thats awesome! Why worry so much about paying MSRP or 3-5k markups in this market for a truck you really want when financially speaking your a hero?

They gave me $320 tire credit for my stock tires. I paid MSRP, and got a good deal on my Coopers. Tint was $150 for the fronts. I know the Parts Manager, so that's why I was able to get this truck. They don't mark up any of their vehicles.

    Great story!
Could we see the actual documents?
Would help others to have the actual information to help them negotiate a great price!

That is all the "actual" information to my deal. What more do you need to know than I paid MSRP?

Retirement 1.) Medical retirement from VA and DOD for military service at 25y/o, so 100% P&T benefits @:~$3,200 as single with no kids plus about $450 for certain considerations, also covers future spouse and kid's college and health care. Tax free. Also property tax exempt.

Retirement 2.) Before I enlisted, I sold all my possessions for around $3,500 and invested half of that into my friend's hemp farm here in Colorado and another $50-$100 a month, about 2 years later the time the FARM bill passed that exploded so I put everything I planned on, as the FARM bill become far more strict and we were able to adapt and maintain the ability to legally ship all harvests out of CO (rather rare). This also led to being good reliable stock for labs in other states that do extractions. Eventually the founders cashed out and left it to people with less morals. Had them buy me out once I knew I was for sure being separated from service, ate the tax and pocketed it all. It doesn't continuously come in like the other 2, but it was a massive paycheck to go into my checking account and I now have it set up as capitol for various things, car buying included.

Retirement 3.) Social Security early due to my military circumstances. Goes away if I make more than $2,400 taxable income for more than 8 consecutive months.

Plus $2,100/mo for months I'm in school once COVID goes away. Cycle my VA loan buying land in mountain states, get gas/electric/water/sewer set up, sit on it for the year. Pay off in capitol and on to the next one. Builds equity while making the bank and my credit score happy, also can cycle invoice costs on new credit cards and milk them for phat bennies. Then I can go right into building houses if/when the cost of lumber goes down.

If you want money, find people who are willing to bleed and live at their work. Do as they do. Focus on success and money/opportunities come to you, quickly.

Money is a fake currency, and I'm rather far from a materialistic person. But it makes shit happen. You can make money work for you if you realize its a resource, not an actual life blood. Since I don't make much money for my time these days, I can spend my time to make sure I spend my money effectively. That $3,000-$5,000 can be spent on 4.88 gears from day 1, and have them Cryo treated and shot-peened and a new tune with $1,500 left over to party with in the mountains, or put in an index fund and compound it till I'm 70. Mods that actually add to the performance and use of the truck. I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today if I spent my money emotionally on dumb shit that doesn't work. Don't get emotional over your mass produced items, focus on what you value and always aim for it while accounting for opportunity cost. We've broken $2,500,000 of specialty designed aircraft parts on purpose during training and nobody batted an eye nor cared, and I've been in crazy car crashes where I was way happier there wasn't a sunroof in a car than I was there was a stupid 240p camera to look at rocks with. Or at the least I ask that you don't assume everyone is as willing to throw their money away as you might be.

I intercepted an allocation that was in silver and I wanted Barcelona Red—the dealer was able to change it. I also wanted an OEM tonneau cover that needs to be put on at the factory. The dealer got that changed too. Paid $250.00 UNDER INVOICE. But that was last December and another time. However the changes possible on an allocation still hold true.

I purchased my 2021 SR5 back in April. Very little wiggle room for sure. I had gone to other dealers but stock very limited. This was the truck I wanted. My 2014 Acadia (Trade-in) needed tires, front rotors & pads, serpentine belt and a couple other things. Knowing the plan was to purchase a Taco soon, I had to move up the date so I would not have to put more money in the Acadia. My Dad had purchased from Chambers of Auburn last 3 trucks w/o issue. I also had a good experience. two great sales associates. Been adding many mods. ><>

Thanks for explaining this to me. Sounds like you got your financial life figured out. Unfortunately for me I don't have a military background to which I can exploit benefits from. I am like you however in that I care about where and how I spend my money which is why Im here. Im excited to see what kinda deal you can find!

I am at my local stealership, waiting to get my first 10k mile service on my taco. They give away delicious muffins while you wait (I had to sample every single flavor).

    While I was here, I saw a new 4Runner, Sr5 2wd, with a $5k markup. They are asking over $50k for a base model 4Runner!

Congrats! I looked at a couple on Broadway Toyota's website when I was hunting. Made the mistake of plugging some of my info there and immediately got an onslaught of texts/emails. That soured me pretty hard. It's 2021, everyone is wise to high pressure tactics.

I knew going in I was going to pay sticker on anything I bought. Everything is too hot right now. As a business owner, I understand the spot these dealerships are in right now too - can't make money if you have nothing to sell. My sales guy helped me find one that was in the pipe already and I only waited 3.5 weeks.

Went to order a 22 today after several emails assuring me they do not charge above sticker, tax and dealer fees just like before COVID.

When we did the paperwork I was informed there was a $1390 appearance package that they charge. I’m like wtf is that. Dealer said it includes door edge moldings and pin-striping. I said I wanted neither but was told that’s fine but they still have to charge it.

So I go well then there’s your markup and walked. I understand $1390 is not huge compared to what I hear from other places, but I was flat out lied to and I refuse to reward such crap behavior. I have the luxury of wanting a truck vs needing one, so I will wait. The tundra becomes more compelling now.

this was gateway Toyota in Toms River NJ btw
