Most dealers will hold MSRP as production and delivery has been slow to our dealers on Tacoma's after the factory shutdown trucks is not Toyota’s priority for production. Well at least for the midwest. I also paid $35,617 for my army green trail package. MSRP i believe was $39,074.

I received notice from my dealer today that the $1,000 rebate or 1.9% is good for December also, which is when I take delivery.

This is what I found as I researched my truck purchase. Granted, I was going to go with the dealer with whom I have a standing relationship. Depending on how badly you want to hold out for the truck of your choice (or not), probably will result in what you will pay. I had to wait nearly 6 weeks and then the dealer had to obtain the truck from a neighboring state through a truck swap. In my extended area, the highest dealer discount I saw was $1250 for a 2021. The rebate and 1.9% APR is an either or. My wife recently bought a new Rav4 and we got a 0% APR, but, unfortunately, we aren't going to see that for the Tacoma, given its popular demand.

I was looking through new england area on buyatoyota.com just to see what was available with the options I wanted since my lease was coming to a end. I started looking in October and the dealers in my area where dry as for new stock even base models were very limited to find, they had a few used 1’s! I ended up staying with the dealer i had before Since i got a great deal on the last truck, the tacoma i got this t time was only on the lot for 3 weeks and the day before I signed they had just got 4 more trucks in! And i kept and eye on my turn in taco it was sold in 2.5 weeks!!

Well I finally got the pricing on 2021 TRD OR DCSB which is enroute from port now, due in about a week:

    2021 TRD OR DCSB 6-Speed M/T
    Barcelona Red Metallic

    Premium Package
    Advanced Technology Package
    Mud Guards
    LED Headlights and Fog Lights
    Exhaust Tip
    Spare Tire Lock
    Tailgate Lock
    Alloy wheel locks
    Bed Lighting Kit
    Tonneau Cover
    Door mats and sill protectors
    Bed Mat
    Bed Extender
    Bed Steps

    MSRP $44,480.00
    Discount $ 3,159.69
    Rebate $ 1,000.00

    Net Sales price $40,320.31

This is supposed to reflect $200 below invoice, which will be confirmed when I review the paperwork upon delivery. If it is indeed $200 below invoice, I'm happy considering how hard it was to get what I wanted. I intercepted an allocation on 9/21, it was built on 10/26 and put on quality hold, and now it is days away. And it was agreed that there will be no dealer add-ons.

    Pretty stoked.

My deal should be complete soon now that we’ve agreed on a trade-in price. The new truck MSRP in $46,197. Sales price is $40,997. Trade-in price for my 2015 is $26,200. TTL comes to only $1,369.08 due to the trade-in tax credit. So, I’ll be writing a check for a little over 16k soon. Hopefully Friday.

Fyi, they are swapping the trail rails off the truck for the 5” oval black steps at my request.

Anyone care to recommend a dealership worth working with in the DFW (preferably east of Dallas) area of Texas? I’ve shopped around in the past and didn’t have much luck. Recently was about to close a deal with Toyota of Dallas, but they verbally gave one price, to which I said “if you can do that then I’m 99% sure you’ll have a deal”...then they came back and said they couldn’t do it but could do $1500 more than that. I walked. This was the most flexible dealership when I purchased my current Tacoma.

I have a 2020 SR5 I’m happy with, but wouldn’t mind upgrading to a 2021 Sport with all the bells and whistles.

Did you try Sport City? Where did you buy the SR5?

Yeah. Don’t even get me started on them. Haha. Worst out of all of them when shopping for my current Tacoma. Didn’t even get to start talking prices before I was over their attitude and walked out.

Just drove home my TRD PRO in LR. It was exactly $48,500 OTD. I had to drive 350 miles to get it, as no dealers near me had one.

Similar to how you are a couple months slow with obtaining this info. (Just messing with you. Welcome to Tacomaworld) It seems like prices have rebounded to where most people are not being forced to pay MSRP as was the case a few months prior. Still not back to normal but we are seeing a few deals here and there that would because quasi normal. Like yours, ~9% off. Certainly a good deal. Not amazing, but better than most people were doing a few months ago. Congrats on the new ride!

Take the $1000 immediate equity in your vehicle. The 1.9% financing is a rip. Unless you have bad credit, the break even point is financing ~$41,000. And even at the break even point you are waiting five years to get that $1000 back. Whereas you get it immediately by taking the cash back.

    Thanks!

Yes, I have. Gulf States didn’t hardly order any with the LED lights last year. Finding a silver one turned into a unicorn. Then the pandemic happened.

Maybe sit and wait a few weeks if you can and see if they are willing to work with you end of yr is coming up and thats what i did on my last truck i started talking to my local dealer in October and by mid December they were contacting me! By then i had talked to several dealers and had a few options if they wouldnt budge.

Yeah, Southeast Toyota did the same thing as far as not ordering many with the LED headlights. Really stupid. I don’t know why they allow those regions to operate as separate entities.

Yeah, I plan on just waiting to see if they contact me. The way I look at it is, if they do reach out (which one did today), I’ll tell them “you know the deal I was looking for before, if you can’t do it there’s no use in following up or trying to get me down there”.

I have my SR5 I’m plenty happy with. Granted, I’d be “happier” with the additional bells and whistles, but not enough to overpay based on what I feel it’s worth.

In all honesty, the longer I wait, the more they’re gonna have to wiggle; every day that has gone by since I was inquiring I’m finding more and more reasons not to upgrade ( or worth the price difference, time and effort of removing my mods, etc). Haha
