Seems like a great deal. Did you have a trade in that reduced taxes? That's like 14% off msrp

Accurate Gauge of Tacoma Price Info:
    1. Year, trim, color, transmission, bed
    2. MSRP(before dealer add ons)
    3. Options
    4. Cost of dealer add ons- (tint, floor mats, nitrogen, etc)
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate
    6. % of Discount off MSRP
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash)
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD)
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim)
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade)
    12. Date purchased
    13. State purchased

I guess my “out the door” price is what I paid for the truck itself. Since TTL vary depending on where you live it doesn’t make much sense to me to include that in the price of the truck. Too many other variables such as trade-in can effect it as well. I didn’t actually trade a vehicle but I am selling mine outright so it will reduce my taxes.

If you want to compare apples to apples then TTL should be left out. If I buy a truck in another state I won’t pay any TTL to that dealer or state.

so if you didn’t include the fees, it wouldn’t be Out the door price. That number is just what you negotiated off MSRP. I’m seeing a lot of folks here post their OTD pricing without any of the TTL (?)

Maybe my understanding of Out the door price is wrong? I always thought it was the final dollar amount you paid post all the taxes and fees...you know...by the time you got out the door.

Anywho....seems like your price is pretty average based on the quotes I got over the past week. Congrats!

My details (after a week of endless negotiating and quotes)

TRD Off road, 4x4, AT, DC, SB, with a crap load of options:

    MSRP: 42k

    my price (pre TTL): 36.8K.

Bought out of state... because CA is an...interesting...market.

Thats a pretty solid deal in this market, is that with rebates? Similar truck early this year I managed $39k w/out rebates, but that took a lot of work and prior to all current demand / supply.

    2021 4WD OR DCLB
Purchased 11/06/2020 in Houston. I made it clear I wanted a DCLB in Magnetic Grey and was willing to wait or fly wherever to buy one. They magically found one although they tried for an hour to sell me a white DCSB that had every option on it - would've been a better deal but I wanted a LB.

    2021 4x4 OR DCLB
    Mangetic Grey
w/ Toyota Safety Sense P (pre-collision pedestrian, dynamic radar cc, lane departure, auto high beams)
w/ Remote start and smart key system
    (technology package I guess?)
(no predator steps, accessories, or dealer add-ons)

MSRP from Toyota.com is $40,390 (as of this post - presumably that's the same)

    Cash Price: $40,749
    Dealer Discount: -$2,280.26
    Selling Price: $38,468.74
    Less Rebate: $1,000
Cash Price: $37,468.74 (8% off MSRP)
    Trade Allowance: $9,650
    Difference: $27,818.74
    Sales Tax: $1,738.67
    Dealer's VIT: $88.59
    Documentary Fee (yeah...): $150
    Registration: $126.25
    Title: $43
    County Fee: $23
    Inspection Fee: $7
    Total Cash Price: $29995.25

My target price with trade-in was $30k. I could have probably haggled some more but an extra $1k etc. was not a deal-breaker for me. I traded in a 2016 Toyota Prius C II in silver with 44,600 miles. Blue Book was ~$10k. Paid cash, no financing.

    Photo of truck is attached...

No you are right out the door means what you paid walking out the door not the discount you negotiated prior to TTL. It’s a difficult concept apparently for many to grasp here...

Out the door has always meant the total after TTL what you paid walking out the door. Hence why my first post to this thread says to not post OTD unless you specify other specifics because it varies. Your post made it seem like you scored a crazy deal, though still a good deal, which doesn’t help others shopping pricing. And congrats on new truck.

If you don't mind, what dealer did you use? Sounds like a great deal.

I think you could add a poll to the thread that basically sums up your first post and says something along the lines of “Did you use this formula to post your deal?”
Then it will be on the top of each page. Might cut down on the out the door price posting.

who are you asking? got mine at Joe Myers Toyota. Had first approached them via email in June/July. Market was even worse for Tacomas then. Waited and went back to them b/c they were the only ones willing to talk or provide a quote over email.

Nice truck by the way! ; ) I still wonder if I made a mistake with the LB, but I will use the truck more for hauling stuff than extreme off roading where the wheelbase will matter (at least that is what I tell myself). But then I research places that look fun to explore, and start questioning.... : )
