    Just a FYI,

This shortage hitting everyone in a variety of industries including the automotive sector.
The factory may be open and ready to go, but if you don't have the parts you can't build it.

( The ongoing semiconductor shortage isn’t just hitting big-name tech companies like AMD, Intel, and Nvidia. According to multiple automotive manufacturers, the general manufacturing problems hitting the industry are now meaningfully slowing vehicle production.

“This is absolutely an industry issue,” Toyota spokesman Scott Vazin told the AP. “We are evaluating the supply constraint of semiconductors and developing countermeasures to minimize the impact to production.” )

No quick fix is coming any time soon.

Good Luck negotiating, when your local car stealership "floor sales hustler" finds this out.

MSRP minus $500 in SoCal is a great deal. I started hunting in December in Los Angeles for a 2021 DCLB TRD OR 4x4 in Cement and nearly gave up after showing up to Toyota El Cajon to check out one that had just been delivered and it had sold within the 2 hours it took me to get there.

They tried to sell me a Super White in the same specs, but WOULD NOT BUDGE on their $5,000 mark up.

Glendale Toyota is just a joke with the slimmest of salesman.

Toyota Hollywood had NO 4x4’s and one TRD PRO w/ a $10,000 markup.

Traveled to Fresno for Christmas and thought maybe I’d go shopping around there just to see if I got lucky, and the Fresno Dealer just got that exact truck on a dealer swap and they were convinced I didn’t want the 6ft bed, so I worked it to my benefit.

They took off their $4,000 dealer markup, got $1k off MSRP, and they worked their Platinum 125,000 warranty into the deal (worth about $1,600-$1,800 according to the internet).

Happy hunting. Let me know if you want to try the dealer in Fresno

what I noticed are the dealers in cali is marking up on the TRD Pros! I am baffle about these markups... People can fly to other states to pick one up and there is no mark ups on them! Especially low volume dealers that can order one. The problem is you gotta have the time to drive it back home... I searched on cars.com on a TRD pro Manual in Lunar Rock... its like finding a flying unicorn!!

Just 4x4’s in general are not very popular around SoCal and the dealers charge a premium to the people who want it.

My buddy just picked up a ‘21 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the only 4x4’s on the lot only came with their premium package with $10k more in options he didn’t want. I tried to convince him to get a 4Runner, but he wanted the Jeep :annoyed:

This is my first post here. Love the site. I just went to Memphis (not just 12/5/20) and got a 2021 TRD Off Road 4x4 double cab MSRP $40,200,(no bells and whistle pkg)and the Cap cost on the lease was $36,000 (incl rebate). $3k total down payment is $228 plus TN state tax, for a total of $254. Buyout at end of lease is $31k.
The dealer was 100 miles from my house in nw TN., and the SR5 I went to buy was mysteriously not really there. It was the national as truck at $129 month w/ 3k down. So after I told the sales manager, I spent 18 years in auto sales ( new domestic ), we got down to business. It ended okay.
Most important I love the truck. Now I’m starting w/ a clean slate, and the fun and expense begins with the adds. Starting I guess with sliders and level the suspension. Wheels and tires are going to have to wait a little. Wife’s nuts already

New member here and first time dealership rodeo. Buying a work truck. MSRP for the options I want (bare bones minimum) is $25,589 or $27,304 with the jump seats, I haven't quite decided between jump seats or not. What should I be paying total, TTL everything included? I'm in CA.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread. If so, could you point me to the right one?

    Everywhere else in the country:
    6%off MSRP(before tax title and fees)=good
    8%=very good
    10%=great
    10+=excellent
I think that scale would still apply to the base models but not too much data on them in this thread. In California you’re probably not going to get much better than MSRP. If you want a discount off MSRP you’re going to have to go somewhere else. If you want to save a couple thousand bucks buy a plane ticket and drive it home

CA SR utility (one I have)
They call it the gardener special.

Easily 10% off in CA. I got 3100$ when I got mine. One of my employees got one 4 weeks ago - $2800 off.

tacomas that are in demand and short supply are not the SR utility ;)
