From your little saga I've read you did quite well for yourselves too. I'm really glad for you that they made it right for you. There's not many manufacturers that would. Usually the would refund you and say go away - especially being out of state. You went through a lot - more then the usual crap you deal with in buying a new vehicle. When I saw that all of a sudden the execs who make the real decisions and can make a real difference for you were on the phone that's when you know they decided to do good by you.

I'd upload a picture but I actually don't have any cloud space somewhere to store it.

I agree. I took delivery of a TRD OR that has all of the options that cspcrx had, except the predator steps but PLUS a factory tonneau and bed step and my MSRP was $44,480 — approximately $7,000 less. Something doesn’t seem right. Was that MSRP, or dealer add-on sticker?

He is saying that the $51.5k included Tax, title, license and that is how they lost it in AZ. So it wasn’t MSRP. It was his out the door price.

So I assume his MSRP was around $46k and he got it for like $40k.

if accurate that is a screaming deal.

Well, my MSRP was $44,480 and I received a dealer discount of $3,959.69 plus the Toyota rebate of $1,000.00 to a price before tax and license of $40,321.31. TTL brought it up to $45,111.20 OTD, which was a difference of $4,789.89.(in Arizona). So at an OTD price of $51.5 he was still paying in the vicinity of $46K which is full MSRP or greater. I am not taking issue with anything, just trying to understand the numbers. If he got it or $40K as you estimated, that would be $11,500 in TTL which is highly unlikely no matter what state the dealer is in.

we agree with each other. The way he presented the original numbers was flawed because he intermixed MSRP and out the door final price.

This is approx my takeaway if we boil it down to MSRP only.
    • The real MSRP was around $47 with some serious markups on the window tint and those other dealer options and after TTL would have been $51.5
    • He got it for around $40 and after TTL got it out the door for whatever he noted - $44 to $45 range.

I just purchased a SR Utility in Ohio. After negotiated reductions combined w/ the $1,000 incentive rebate (and before dealer fees, which cannot be negotiated out in Ohio), I paid $24,818 for a MSRP at $26,866. That's roughly 8% off of MSRP.

I see some other posts in here stating that SR Utility aren't in demand and can go for a lot less, but at least in Ohio that wasn't the case. I was in communication with five dealers across four cities and nobody would go lower than the price I got. Sometimes you just hit a wall and that's that.

Hi everyone! New member, first post, and first Toyota (hopefully). Don't have the truck yet as it's still en route. I lurked and learned a lot from this thread which I used as my primary source of information for purchasing my Tacoma in Florida. I was able to negotiate a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4X4 V6 DCSB with Tech Package in Cement color for $38,500 OTD. It was very difficult to get any dealer around me to go below $40,000 OTD (my goal was $39,000 or less OTD). I asked one dealer near me (from which we purchased a new vehicle from early in 2020) to order the Tacoma for me to get it in my price range, and they told me they have no incentive to do that. I walked out of there pretty quickly.

I then used TrueCar.com and received a lot of calls and emails from surrounding dealers. Of all the dealers that contacted me, only two were able to get in my price range. One was at $39,500 OTD (so close!), but I really wanted $39,000 OTD. They wouldn't budge from their offer. Another dealer offered me $39,000 OTD, but with a tad more negotiating I was able to get it to $38,500 OTD. It's my understanding they were only able to do this because the truck hasn't reached the distributor yet, and they were able to mark it as sold and remove any add-ons I did not want. I put down a deposit and should be getting a call within the next week or two to pick it up. Hopefully all goes well from this point on. I'm fully expecting something to go wrong, but I hope not. I'm sure others have gotten better deals, but in the last 3 years that I've been patiently waiting and poking at dealerships to get quotes, I'm finally happy with the purchase price.

    Here is the price breakdown:

    Selling Price ... $39,255
    - Discounts ... $5,617
    + Wheel locks ... $189
    + Tint ... $800
    + All Weather Floor Mats ... $312
    --------------------------------------
    Total Purchase Price ... $34,939
    + Tax ... $2,232
    + Dealer Fee ... $800
    + Tag ... $529
    --------------------------------------
    Total Balance ... $38,500

$800 dealer fee! Ouch! It’s amazing how some areas that’s becoming the norm.

    Enjoy the truck!

Sorry for all of the confusion I caused with my posting. Yes the $51.5 is the window sticker with tax, title and doc fees. As you stated a few over priced dealer options as well. Basically if you did not negotiate at all that is what the truck would have cost out the door.

Can you share the dealer? I'm on the panhandle and having a hell of a time trying to get nearly the same set up as you.

    Army Green
    TRD Off-Road 4x4 DCSB
-(LG) LED Headlights with LED DRL + Black Bezel LED Foglights
    -(TP) Technology Package

Dealer fees in florida are ridiculous and Alabama (not far north of me) isn't much better

Yup! That's where they make their money back when giving you "discounts". What's funny (and also sad) is that I was surprised by the low dealer fee. In my area, $1000 dealer fee is normal. Back when I worked at a dealership, we raised our dealer fee from $600 to $1000 due to other dealers in the area charging that much as well. There was no benefit or additional services for the customer, no employee raises, nothing...

I did the same as far as allocating before it hit the port. The Toyoguard platinum and paint protection film that Southeast Toyota loves to put on every truck jacks up the price $1500 for nothing.

Dealer fees that high in Florida are standard. They can be even more than that. Crazy
    Edit: as already stated. Lol

Here it seems like every dealer charges $499 for doc fees. I have watched several car buying tip channels on YouTube and one showed the swings from state to state. Some average as low as $60-$80 and others as pointed out over $1000. It is a sneaky way to make money off the buyer and something everyone should negotiate.

Got a quote on a 2021 TRD Pro Lunar Rock $47,080 with mud and door guards. A little over $2K off MSRP. Seem like a good deal? Got 3 other quotes all holding firm on MSRP. I’ve searched the thread, but anyone able to get more off a PRO?
