I think ive only read half of one of those books. it was a random choice from our very limited boat library. our cook was big into them so he would leave them there so we could read them. it was pretty cool though. very LOTR-ish.

I'm almost finished with "The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided By Politics and Religion" by Jonathan Haidt. A book about the science behind human morals, opinions, and beliefs, from cavemen up to modern American conservatives and liberals. It explains a lot about why people think and act the way they do, with (thankfully) no agendas or political judgments from the author. Highly recommended.

A buddy of mine suggested Eye of the World (book one). I got about 5 chapters in and it hooked me. I have thoroughly enjoyed these books so it's hard for me to be objective about them but of you like lotr I definitely recommend checking out the first one.

Back to Methuselah by G. B. Shaw was an interesting read. This famous quote was taken from the first act of the the play telling an alternate story of the serpent tempting Eve in the garden:

THE SERPENT. If I can do that, what can I not do? I tell you I am very
subtle. When you and Adam talk, I hear you say 'Why?' Always 'Why?' You
see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'

Just finished a few books in the Myron Bolitar series (Harlan Coben).

Just picked up Dan Brown's Origin. About to crack the spine. Which means I won't be checking back in this thread until I'm finished.

Post apocalyptic distopian, where people spend most of their time in a virtual society. Lot's of late 80's references.

I'm done with Dan Brown after this one.

    I thought it was wretched.
