has anyone watched all of the seasons of All American? I started watching it back during the pandamic with season 1 & 2, and I enjoyed it. I recently started to watch season 3 and its a hot heavyhanded mess of wokeness. Does the show get back on track in season 4?

    The Catcher is a Spy

Decent (truish story and really good at that) movie about a pro baseball player - and smart guy, etc - who went on to "check" on Nazi nuclear technology and encounter Heisenberg.

No one really knows if the guy was really gay or not but the 1st 45 or so is all about his encounters. Hollywood did not have to do this. This story is amazing itself. But thrusting this in and out of the audience's face and jamming it up our perspectives, they kind of ruined it. The last 60 minutes are excellent. Lots of star character actors. Enough already.

the john mcafee documentary: ‘running with the devil’.
i travelled to belize several years ago.
took the chicken bus ride from corozal to orange walk.
orange walk is a nothing town with a strange vibe.
it wasnt until after getting home that i learned mcafee built a jungle compound along the New River and established his own security force.
reminiscent of Marlon Brando/Col. Kurtz in Apocalypse Now.
ive been fascinated with belize since.
Corrupt and somewhat lawless like a modern wild west.

Stumbled upon True Detective S1. Haven't seen it since 2014. You don't have to like him but it has to be Matthew McConaughey's best work next to Dallas Buyers Club

S1 was brilliant. Also fully nude Daddario.

Haven't read the Silmarillion and I don't know how true to the book it is, but I do vaguely know that Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf were all around during this time. (and I always thought that Galadriel was on a similar bad-ass-demigod level as Gandalf. I guess both of them are at their humble beginnings, and I'm doubly guessing the dumb star-giant is supposed to be Gandalf.)

I also thought that Sauron kind of charmed his way into learning Celebrimor's crafting skills (In the show, he's the dude that young Elrond goes to study under) before stealing the idea and making the one ring in mount doom for himself.

Actually had to look it up. Gandalf and the other wizards don't show until the third age (around the Hobbit era, and this show is 1000-something years before that), but during this time he kind of exists as some vague spirit concept (Maiar). So I don't know who the space stranger is, with the very Gandalf-like mannerisms.
