What are you streaming on Amazon, Netflix, etc?

I haven't played the game. I, I think, can say both seasons are worth watching, but it falls flat on its face at times. The animation is a masterpiece of craft and talent. The facial expressions can be wonky at times, but that's the only nitpick. The soundtrack waffles between meh (childish) and decent. The voice acting is generally really good (True Grit girl and Fallout girl did a good job).

The overall backstory/world is really interesting and relatively original (in current terms, of course almost everything now is derivative of earlier fiction). The writing is odd. At times it seems really good (overall story arcs), and other times really bad (the lesbian scene was pointless and dumb). With the easy access to porn in this day and age, there is no reason to interject it into fiction anymore (not that there was a valid need to before the advent of the internet, for that matter). Without having playing the game, I do wonder if all the good parts come from the game developers, and the bad parts by the writers.

Lastly, it's a make believe world, so I suppose it's feasible that the females in this world have the muscle density of chimpanzees. But there are times where seeing a fight scene between characters having body masses separated by an order of magnitude being a fair fight, is just eye roll inducing. It also appears that in this world, women are also imbued with a fair amount of testosterone. It would be easy to mistake all the female characters for men with boob jobs. I suppose if that is how fiction interesting to males passes for being woke in this day and age, sigh, well whatever.

 

Started the Penguin series. Finally one boss guy called him "Penguin". Way way different. Need him to talk like the Penguin I know from childhood. Mob movie. Interesting. Violent. Wife bailed. I will watch though.

 

I really enjoyed it. Yes there's violence, but not over the top IMO.

 

It had it’s moments, and the reference to Blazing Saddles was funny, and almost expected - “Where are the white woman at”. But, that story line …

 

I stopped watching Landman at E4 end. It just got too stupid. Sorry I tried.

 

Working my way thru season 2 of Gilligan's Island, Tubi. I think the first season was the best so far, even in B&W.

I’m gonna say not really. It’s really kidish. Def geared towards a younger audience. Idk maybe watch the first one and tell me what you think.

The Learning Tree (1969). Internet Archive. A little gem of a flick. “A bittersweet, idyllic story about a year in the life of 14-year-old Newt Winger, born into a poor Black family in Kansas, who learns about love, fear, racial injustice, and immorality.”

Dazed and Confused (1993). OK site. In the D&C vs Fast Times debate, D&C has a better soundtrack and cooler cars. FT, for me, was the better film - I found it more entertaining, humorous, and relevant.

 

Watched E1 and E2. On reg Disney, we get some kind of package with HULU I think. Not sure the cost. CFO wife does those deals.

It's odd one, that's for sure. I found the first two episodes. Entertaining. It's an ET feel in a way, Star Wars in another, and definitely not for impressionable kids under 10-12 years old. But now days, real murder watching for 6 year olds seems OK with some parents, so what do I know?

It's Disney, because main kid's mom is dead. Not sure what the message was with dancing 3D video entertainment at elephant kid's house. Blond Asian Star Trek Geordie visor girl seems original. Not. Of course older girl is Captain. Men are idiots and/or lacking or ultra violent. We will see new main guy, see how he is portrayed E3.

So the story is fun, if not reused. We will watch.

Here is my complaint: Commercials. Wow. Every 2 or maybe they go 3 minutes and then a set of 4+ LONG commercials. And the spacing is not logical or well timed and certainly not seamless. Very irritating - plus we PAY fro the service AND get so many commercials? My goat has been gotten.

 

Netflix ad tier has ramped up ads in the last month…
