Have you looked at the F150's?

Both the Super Cab and Super Crew have completely flat back seat areas when you fold up the rear seats. Many people claim they love that for their dogs (Ford also has a vinyl floor option). It has the space of a full-sized without the price of gas that comes with gas on older model trucks (or Tundras).

I cry over the $400 in gas I spend a month as well, but the Taco matches most full-sized models in MPGs.
I also remind myself that while gas is expensive, tens of thousands on a new truck buys a hell of a lot of gas lol.

They look great, I will say that. But I cannot travel to the darkside for more reasons than 1. :)

I could also take the 18" NV's and 295/70 Nitto Terra Grapplers off my Tundra and pick up 2-3 Mpg, but that's not fun at all.

Also if Toyota stick's to its current upgrade cycle, the Tundra will almost certainly get a new engine in 2018, and I am 99% sure there will NOT be a diesel option. It will likely be an Atkinson Cycle, Direct Port, just like the 16 Taco.

I have 12 Wrangler unlimited and it is fun but omg the poor gas mileage compared to my Tacoma...
Remember that 17 will be an aluminum body for the Wranglers and a new refresh. I read that there will be a 30mpg version so expect possibly a diesel.

I've tried this but at some point it gets to where some folks just get to low balling and it becomes insulting.. But if someone has shown interest on a vehicle I plan to replace, I usually give them dibs.. But if you come at me and offer me LESS than I could get by just trading it in because you saw a scratch, or tires aren't at 90%, or some BS like that, I'm not going to bother.. I do live in a small town though so it just depends on the timing a lot of times...

I just name a firm price. It's not eBay, I'm not in a hurry, and I know what it's worth.

But in thinking it over, I've never been low balled. Or even offered. My price has been paid.

Another thought for those who think that the trade in is the best route, because you're being paid well for your trade.

Take your vehicle to CarMax and have them write you a quote to buy it outright. That is a 'real' price, and quite likely what the actual trade value would be.

Preach it. CarMax beat the dealership by $2500 on our last "trade." Dealership tried to lowball, but realized what I had done when I left after telling them "$10K firm trade or I sell elsewhere." They keep margins high on used cars because they potentially make a lot more money on the flip.

I certainly hope that isn't the case, but even so, if Toyota doesn't do something innovative with their trucks soon, they are really going to trail in the market. MPGs will be a big reason.
Even if the 18' Tundra mocked the Taco in engine it still will be sub par to what other makers offer.

The Tundra is getting better. The body style is getting tolerable, but the reason why I have not considered a Tundra at all in my truck search is because of MPGs and engine choices.
I do not feel that Toyota takes their place in the full-sized truck market seriously, which is unfortunate because I would love a better redesign of the old 2000 Tundra. It is because of this I see buying a Tundra as a risk and Toyota as the "dark side". It's hard to buy a truck that the maker doesn't stand enough behind to make it competitive. Which is sad, again I'd love a modern version of the 200 Tundra :(

Do not trade, keep the money that dealer will make out of your trade for yourself selling it on your own that can be several thousands,
I have been window shopping for about 2 months and getting trade in low ball offers in several dealership for my 07 tundra,I decided to just listed on Craigslist laat week and sold it yesterday for $6,000 more than all of theyre trade in offers I received,I know this for a long time never trade,I was just proving myself right and I did, im a happy man with extra $6k in my pocket
