mossberg makes a combo gun that is a home defense and hunting. I chose the "persuader" because I wanted the parkerized finish. Ended up buying a parked 28" vented rib for hunting.

What do you need it for?

    Same thing...

Home defense, and potentially concealed carry...

Home defense, grab a good .38spl, add some FBI load, and hope its never needed. I have a S&W 64-6 with three speed loaders for this.

Ccw.. that's up to you. I have a cheap Polish P64 because it's good, compact, and I'll not be broken hearted when it resides in an evidence locker for 6+mo

...and someone above mentioned a M1A SOCOM-16... sigh, before dropping that coin.. read up on appropriate barrel lengths, and find a 18.5".

My M14 started life as a 22", now wears an LRB 18.5" and I couldn't be happier.

    Yes. A S&W 64-6, .38spl, 4" heavy barrel.

A revolver when stored loaded is fully "at rest." Meaning, there are no springs of parts locked in a compressed state, so it can be kept this way indefinitely and no adverse effects will mount.

A mag fed has at least the mag spring constantly clmpressed. While springs have gotten better over the past 20yrs, they still fatigue. My model 64 can sit for that 20yrd and be just as ready to work as it was day one.

Another dream gun. It only falls into that category because, well, California. If I lived anywhere else I would own one already.

Why can't you own that in Cali? I thought it was harder to buy a gun in New Jersey than it was in California?

Look up California safe handgun roster. The information you seek is there.

Basically, it's a pay-to-play scam courtesy of the Democrat gangsters running this state.

Yeah the 64 is old, a k-frame. You can get police/security tradeins still for under $400. Mine was a Brinks armored car trade... paid $309 shipped and is an amazing shooter.

I try not to spend more than $500 on a defense weapon... when daddy needs a new gun locker.

    Safe?!?!

A handgun is only as safe as the person who owns that gun...

That's the way I see it!
