ok im looking at the 16x8 rims at wheelers offroad. they have 4 1/2" and 4" backspacing. which should i get if i want to run 12.5 wide tires? how would the rubbing differ between the 2? thanks for your help guys. i do plan on getting UCA's if that makes a difference and a relentless fab bumper

So you didn't have to do a body mount chop?

Going to have to give us more info, like are you lifted? Suspension or body? 1st gen or 2nd? 12.5 wide what, 33"? 35"? 30" Boggers? 5 lug, 6 lug?

I have a 2009 4x4 , with 16x8 rims with 4" BS'ing with 305/70/16's on 3" of lift (coilovers), with stock UCA's and I don't hit the frame or body mount on or off road. If I jumped the truck, maybe I would rub then but I don't jump my truck.

Here it is at full lock, flat ground.

If you were planing to run similar to what I am and you get aftermarket arms, you would need to chop the mount.

4 1/2 would make the body mount rub less or not at all compaired to 4" but then you may or may not rub the UCA's (stock or aftermarket) as well as possibly the frame.

The 4" would make the tire more likely to rub or rub more on the body mount but won't hit the stock UCA's and probablly be fine with aftermarket UCA's as well. On the other hand aftermarket UCA's will move the tire closer to the body mount no matter what and chopping is a must.

Plenty of guys run 4.5" with 285's and don't hit the mount under normal offroading but I'm not sure about a 12.5 tire. Everything I've heard is run 4" bs'ing for a 33x12.5, which is what I did. I've looked at the clearance I have from the UCA with my 4"bs'ing and it 'looks' like my tires would clear them.

If I'm ever up near Fort Bragg I'll PM you and you can fit one of my wheels to see what you're up against after you get lifted. If you ever make your way to Santa Rosa let me know. Unless it's not the Fort Bragg in CA!!

If you go 3" lift and get the 4" bs'ing you shouldn't have to worry about hitting the body mount until/if you get different UCA's.

yes i did and i need to gut it back even more for clearance offroad. the 4" BS will be better against space between the tires and UCA, but will make it easier to rub the body mount b/c of the terrible way they designed it.
