I bought my used 2008 Taco a few months ago and I'm starting to make upgrades. Head unit will be gone shortly and replaced with the Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS, and I'd like to install a backup camera as well.

I'm thinking about buying the super cheap camera listed here for $15:

Has anybody installed something similar and still happy with the purchase?

I just installed the TaoTronics TT-CC06 from Amazon last night. Remind you, this is a cam without night vision/infrared capabilities. Pros: Clarity is awesome during the day. Colors are vivid and the sharpness is top notch. Cons: Very grainy in low light conditions. No light = forget about it (black screen). There's this annoying stop indicator that never goes away, but i don't pay any attention to it. In all, I am very pleased with this cam for $20 bucks. My reverse lights provide enough illumination to gauge proximity.

I hooked it up to my Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS.

I think the TaoTronics TT-CC06 is basically the same design as what I'm looking to buy. Only complaints seem to be low light performance (which you mentioned) and water leaking inside the lens area (in some cases). Some folks used silicone to seal all the seams better before installing and haven't had any issues with moisture.

I bet you are loving your Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS...looks like a very nice head unit!

    Thanks for the feedback!

I bought the exact camera couple months ago. Its still working with no issues. I think the pictures pretty good even at night, but then again its 15 bucks sooooo don't expect 1080p lol
