You got to pay to play. Buy a cheap battery and you're taking a gamble. Sure it starts fine now, but how about when you're in the middle of nowhere? I'd choose a battery thats built to be reliable, not built to save money.

    yeah... me too...
problem is i don't have $240 right now

if i was taken in by things built to save money as opposed to being reliable, i'd be over at the BlazerWorld forum

    True.

Buy a expensive and you take a gamble. Say a 16v 4 lb race battery. The nice thing about spending that kind of money for 2,,only to have one poop out immediately, and of course be immediately replaced overnight is the no questions asked kind of service they provide. Value for money? you decide.

    Who?,,aftermarket of course.

awh crap,,just boiled over my atv bat. no freakin way. Stupid acid batt and all this talk. blaming it on the gallery and my digital diehard charger. that thing is about to get the sledge. A good 80 amp boost charger, if the line your on can carry it.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
In my First Gen with the stock battery tray and hold down, yes, a Group 35 DieHard Platinum is secure.

Funny how this thread comes to life just as my Orange Top Optima starts to retire. I can't complain after 12 years of hard use. On the other hand there are just too many issues, real or imagined with the newer Optimas so DHP it is.
Just waiting for a sale and a fresh production date.

Need to compare the DieHard to the Odyssey, spec for spec.

You get the Odyssey 2150-T battery which, on sale, goes for $377. The DieHard equivalent is the marine 50131, size 31M which can be had for low $200's.

Same manufacturer, exact same specs, pretty sure the only difference is the color of the casing and labels.

I have been waiting on a DHP sale for all of about a week! Today all 3 Die Hard Platinum automotive batteries are on sale for $184. That is $46 off.

I'm using a Toyota Truestart battery now and I'm hoping to get some good life out of it. It's the 84 month (7 year) one and the guy at the dealer said they are made by Interstate. It was only like $100 too.

Good choice. Actually made by Johnson Controls as is Interstate. My last True start outlived the 7 year prorate.

How big of a deal is it to have an AGM battery? Do regular old acid bath filled batteries puke all over the trail if you aren't crawling, rolling and slamming around?

I e-mailed Optima directly and asked them, "Can you tell me where your Optima batteries are made? What Country?" and they replied, "In 2007 OPTIMA Batteries, Inc. broke ground for a new, larger production facility located in Monterrey, Mexico. The process and the materials used to manufacture the OPTIMA batteries have not change since moving the facility from Denver, CO to Mexico."

Vibration is tends to shorten wet lead-acid car battery service life than flat plate AGM batteries due to their construction--separators and thinner plates. If I were into heavy off roading, I would use spiral wound AGM batteries.

I just found out today that Toyota OEM batteries are rebranded Interstate, which are made by Johnson Controls. Now to see if I will save any money getting an OEM one and if they offer the MTP-24F 800 CCA equivalent instead of the stock 600CCA battery.

If you have a 3a card have them put a battery in. 6yr warranty, 3 free replacement and 3 prorated. Should be a 24f.
