Wow... what a surprise set of replies and votes! Thanks for participating!!

I am most surprised by the Dodge and Hyundai votes... and that Kia is mentioned so much for being such a new brand in the USA. I am also surprised that Chevy isn't getting more votes... but people are writing in it's sister companies like Pontiac and other GM brands.

Before my first Tacoma, I had a '92 Plymouth Grand Voyager... what a piece of junk that was... went through three transmission builds in the 2 years I had it! The only other vehicle I owned that was made so badly and failed so often was my new '75 Jeep Cherokee Chief. The cars between the Jeep and the Plymouth were all Japanese and all good... Go figure! (3 Subarus, 1 Mitsubishi, 1 Mazda)

I ordered a cherokee chief for model year 1985.It was the biggest piece of crap ever made. The engine, clutch,ac compressor, power steering unit, transfer case and front differential were all replaced in under 18000 miles. I traded it in for a new 1986 toyota 4x4 that I had for17 years until it rotted out completely. I am on my 4th toyota truck ,however the quality has declined.....I don't know what I will buy next.

Of the three Toyota Tacomas I have had, this 2010 is the best... but the '01 was perfect, too... Just the 2010 has a better 4WD system and is bigger. The '05 had issues, but not enough to change brands.

Perhaps give Toyota one more chance... I mean, what else is close?

I would never buy a Chevy Truck. Working in the auto industry, I see all makes and models of vehicles, and I can say without a doubt that the Chev pickups that come into my shop are the biggest pieces of s**t on the road. Not to mention the friends I have that own them (three guys) and all the issues they have.

Oh, and here in Canada, a nicely loaded (new) Silverado will run you $55K before tax, etc... In two-three years they depreciate down to $18K. OUCH!

I had a Sonata for 5 years. It was a great car.

I'd have to say anything by Kia. But, I begrudgingly admit that their new full-size crossover is very, very sharp.

My dad just bought a Dodge which I was trying to talk him out of for a month. I wanted to see him get a Tundra, but he left me a VM this weekend that he bought a POS 05 Dodge RAM. I told him good luck with the drive train.

Other then a Viper or the Viper truck you couldn't GIVE me anything with 4 wheels and a Rams head on the front.

I'm not surpirsed witht he responses but like I said, I was just curious on why people voted that way. I personally like dodge and all my past dodges, I really never had any issues that a warranty could not fix just like any other vehicle. I remember the horror stories of the bad tranmissions in the 90's, but I thought that all got fixed with the newer generations. The only reason why I am in my toyota is because it's overall a better vehicle. I didn't need a full size truck, yet it still tows and does everything I ask of it, it has enough get-up and go as well as better mpg. Plus like someone else mentioned, the resale value is great.

Anyway, everyone has their opinions which in the end is all that matters.

I'd never own a Chrysler product, except maybe a Wrangler.

I'd never own a Kia because they're cheap, crappy cars and their exterior styling always starts with, "what sells well in this segment? Let's copy that."

I'd never own a Hyundai because despite their recent turn-around, they've got a lingering "crappy car" stigma that will probably stick around for years to come.

I'd never own a Buick because of the "old folks" stigma that comes with it.

I'd never own a Cadillac because if I could afford one, I'd rather have a BMW.

I don't know if there are many manufacturers that I wouldn't purchase a car from. Now a days they all have good offerings, though the vehicle I would own would be coming out of different segments for sure.

Come to think of it, I don't think I would ever buy a Kia with their current offerings...

Mitsubishi, I had a diamante before I got the taco. I loved that car, it was super luxury, rode like it was on clouds and had a good amount of get up and go. It started having problems that were too much money to put into at about 100k miles. I did all maintainence, just think it was built like shit.
