dachsund/retriever/shepard mix...cool looking dog...do his toes have a lot of webbing in them? dogs that are bred to swim or be in snow pass on that webbing gene, more than other breeds.

if he has alot of webbing, i would say he has retriever in him(water)..and rule out a snowbred dog, i.e. husky, newfoundland, those sort of dogs...he also looks like he has hair from the ausie shepard....im not a vet, i just have a lot of buddies that have hunting dogs, and they tell me this stuff about their dogs and what they look for, retrieving out of water or running around in snow.

hmm... just read that spaniels are gun dogs... they were bred to retrieve water fowl or if they were the land variant they pointed. That would explain his sniffing, webbed feet, and occasional pointing...

guess he might be a spaniel/dachshund mix
