I'm not sure if they still offer the legs (can't find it on their site), but I have seen them before. The bad thing about those though is you still need to have two people in camp who are strong enough to handle a 120 lb tent over their heads as well as tall enough to get it up to the rack (mine's at 74"). I figure fabbing up a rack for the trailer makes it way easy to deal with plus gives me extra gear storage for stuff like water/firewood if I'm going for an extended trip. The bad thing there is that I would lose use of the changing room with it mounted low. And yeah, the first thing I thought of when I saw the legs was how easy it'd be for someone to make my tent disappear!

Got the tent installed today on my bed rails. Looks to be OK, but I may put supports under the cross bars just for more security. I can still park in my garage with it here, but if I put it on my Tracrac which is stronger I have to park outside

Looks good! I still park in the garage and have my RTT on a ceiling hoist, but I have to go through a small nightmare to get in and out of the doorway each time. From another thread about garage door openings-

...Without doing anything, I have to lose 3-3/4" to get out of the garage with the tent on top of the camper shell rack. In order to do so, I now have to-

    a) make sure fuel tank is topped off
    b) load absolutely everything I'm taking with me into the truck
    c) drop my rear tires down to 10 psi
    d) attempt to get out then swear while backing back in because I still can't
    e) start setting large rubbermaid tubs onto gap between bed/tailgate
    f) break out hose and fill between 30 and 60 gallons of water depending on rest of gear load
    g) creep sloooooowly out then dump water in driveway, break out compressor, refill tires, then clean up and put everything away
    h) go back in the house and swear for 20 minutes while trying to cool off and de-sweat before getting in the truck to leave

Not fun, but it works. Sort of.

Im sure its worth it. I saw the ceiling hoist on Amazon and will probably get one after loading by myself today. They are cheap and I will just have to park backwards in my garage if I want to leave it hanging, but all I have to do is drop it on and bolt it down BOOM!

Definitely. It's awesome not having to mess with getting it on/off the rack. Or finding a place to store it for that matter. Mine's a Harken that I picked up from Autohome when I picked up the tent.

i honestly think your truck and how you have it setup is the only thing keeping me from going full blown desert prerunner with my truck. i honestly wish there was some way i would be able to do both but to me it just seems like this type of setup for a truck wouldnt really work with a crazy LT setup unless i kept the bed stock and didnt cut it? i also feel like i would enjoy camping trips and going on trails rather than just going out and driving my truck fast over terrain you normally wouldnt be able to drive fast over

anyways just wanted to say after looking through the whole thread i definitely think your truck looks the part and gave me some ideas. oh and how long is your cb? in one of the pics you have it mounted on the bed and i am planning on doing that soon and was wondering what size firestik to get?

Finally got to use the tent this weekend. Took a little bit to set up since it was my first time fully opening it up, but was still better than a ground tent. Packing it back up was even easier. I wont use it again for 2 weeks so I took it off. Not something I wanna do often, but I don't know about leaving it on for weeks or months at a time.

Close the tarp in your doors to gain a little more head room and slope for rain to run off.

Thanks. You could still go long travel and have a similar setup. I've even looked at changing to long travel in the future but up to now it just hasn't been worth the cost for how I'm using the truck. You'll have to give some thought into how you have your bed set up with longer shocks through the bed etc but it could be done.

I know right. I looked at those but just can't justify the price. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to get rid of ARB and buy a Maggiolina. If someone is seriously interested in my tent I will go ahead and place my order.:D Is yours a small Airland?
