I've noticed there wasnt as much room as I thought might be behind the seat. What are my options? I've looked around but haven't found a solid answer. Thanks.

Replaced chrome badges with Sockmonkey black badges, painted billet grill black, K&N cold air intake, my corner light turn signal circuit, Speedfreek traction bars, RAAMaudio BXT/Ensolite, Stereo: Kenwood KIV-701 USB/Bluetooth deck, 10" Pioneer shallow sub behind the rear seat, Infinity 6822cf 6x8 front and rear doors, Fosgate P400-2 (sub), US Acoustics USX-4065 (four main speakers)
For behind the rear seat, there are two off the shelf options that I know of.
Car Audio Factory box for up to 10" shallow sub

    and

    Supercrewsound dual shallow 8"
    http://www.supercrewsound.com/04tacomadbldual.html

I have owned both..... the dual 8" first and then the single 10". The 10" gave me the best bass and still leaves a lot of the area behind the rear seat for storage.
I chose a 10" Pioneer TS-SW2501S4 and had to do a little trimming/Dremeling to get it to fit in there. A 8" would be easy.

Matt, are you powering up your 10" sub separately or using one amp for the whole system. I've been following your posts as I have the same truck and I think your set up will work nicely for me.

    Thanks for your time!

more than enough room behind the seats of a DC :)
If your willing to build a custom box you have a ton of options from 2 8s ported to 2 12s even sealed.

I am powering it separately. I have a four channel amp for the four door speakers and then use a Fosgate 400-2 bridged into the subwoofer. I run the subs dual 8 Ohm voice coils in parallel to make a 4 Ohm load for max power out of the amp.
The shallow sub in a very small sealed enclosure isn't the most efficient setup, but power is cheap these days. Run plenty of power and it helps to have a bass boost (either in the radio or in the sub amp). My amp has a bass boost control (at 45Hz) that can be remotely mounted and adjusted. It really helps bring the deeper bass out. I wouldn't be nearly as happy with my setup without that bass boost. I haven't checked to see if they sell that Pioneer speaker still, but it takes a bit of filing and "Dremling" to get it to fit in the Car Audio Factory box.

I don't think you could fit a 12" back there even without a box. In the 2005+ years that is a different story, but 2004 and before is very tight back there.

    Crap your right! I totally didn't see its for a 04 :p
For the 04s the 8 inch subs ported seems to be solid way to go :)
