The internet says a lot of different things. I no longer have the manual the truck was sold with.

2012 V6 SR5 access cab. Have towing package.

What weight can I safely tow?

    thanks y’all.

The truck can tow 6,500lbs. Can't answer for driver ability though.

You will need a weight distribution hitch and brake controller at minimum to tow that much.

Thank you! Like to think I have decent ability. Towing horse trailers since I was a kid (don’t worry, not towing horses with a Tacoma!)
Will def be getting the brakes, WDH, etc for safety.

I don't think you have to as I have never seen manuals have the inherent issues that automatics have due to the torque converter in constant movement, but someone with more towing experience can chime in here.

Nope. No need for a transmission cooler on the manual.

For what it's worth, I tow a travel trailer that is 5,500lbs loaded and I wouldn't want anything larger if towing for any distance. That's about the limit of what this truck can handle if you tow at elevation (I live at 4,500ft and drag it over passes that range from 6,500 to 8,000ft every time we take it out).
