What can I tell the dealer?

It's tough because the dealer(s) don't want to spend the labor unless you can pinpoint what it is. If they tear something down and don't find an issue, they can't bill toyota under warranty.

Private shop - if I can find one i trust, may be a good idea.

 

Soo now my shifter is vibrating hard/shaking when idling in neutral and when in gear and it’s never done that before, should I be concerned?

 

Are you getting any noise along with the shaking shifter ?
Possibly a loose mount .
Hows your engine running ?

Well, it’s idling a little more rough for sure - you can hear the slight flutter of rpms, but my AC was also on. I took a video of the shaking, I’ll see if I can upload it.

Engine is running okay, just lots of vibration. Engine bay was also HOT HOT after opening up the hood yesterday. I’m sure it’s supposed to be, but goddamn could’ve fried an egg on just about every component, seemed above average hot - but temp gauge says she’s running normal internally.

My “maintenance require” light just came on, which is weird considering I just had my oil changed the last time it was at the dealer at 35k (I have 37k now).
