I am currently looking at topo as it has the same profile. Excited to see what @JLee cooks up.

I've got my cash deposit down! Can't wait to see them cooked up. I feel like I should get one of your tasty bumpers if I'm driving out from Colorado anyway.

In my experience the Drifter was/is the best option in the wedge category of campers. From the campers I’ve owned my ranking would go Drifter > Treehouse > Mesa > GFC

Welded .125" thick Aluminum main structure, the bed fully retracts for full use of the trucks bed, load rated roof so you can actually haul things on top of it.
and the best part it's now made by BAMF!

Well when I ordered mine it was still fully customizable and Phil was still kind of responsive. So that was a huge factor. I could (and did) get it built exactly how I wanted it. It felt like it was 1 of 1. The build quality was pretty much the same as Treehouse and a little better than Topo’s IMO and definitely felt more sturdy. Nothing was wrong my GFC but they are solely interested in pumping out the most amount of campers as possible, there is very little customizability with them.

I want to also note that all companies produce awesome campers and this is just my opinion. I don’t feel any of them were ever going to fail me or let me down, with the exception of the customer service/support from Phil (they actually still owe me $150, which is nothing compared to other buyers). This is obviously no longer the case now that BAMF is taking over.

ETA: Plus everything listed in the post above mine lol

Will you maintain the VO website or sell them through your BAMF website?

Everything will be on our site VO is gone we have no affiliation. I'm honestly surprised it's still up to tell you the truth.

As a previous Vagabond Drifter owner, I’m not surprised they went out of business, but I’m just finding out about it. When did it happen? Did they skip town and take everyone’s deposit with them? I was worried about that happening, way back in 2019 when mine was only supposed to take 6 months to build, but ended up taking a year.

    Yep.

He just kind of petered off at the end, making promises the whole time before completely disappearing with everyone's money. It was a slow painful process, with a slowly waning staff who stopped having contact with him before leaving themselves is the impression that I got. Production had all but ceased by 2023, with only a few campers made that entire year. Total radio silence by summer.

Influencer-bros got theirs (and immediately sold them) and a few others were able to retrieve half-built campers from the abandoned shop.

That really sucks. I wonder how many people got screwed? I was there in April to have them remove my drifter and put it on the truck of the guy I sold it to. Jay was no longer around and it was just Chris and one other person, no Phil. I wondered how they could keep going like that.
