I'm not sure that it's all of the old men or more of the ones with common sense. I'm probably not as old as you may think I am. I've just seen the results of too many racing incidents, and know the consequences.

I'm 37, hardly old, and the fact that I've been to street races and I've seen people die (Front St in Philly; only watched) means that I've learned from experience. Your blatant disregard for common sense, let alone anyone else on the road, clearly proves why people like you should not have a license. I can only hope that you lose your license before you kill someone.

    ^Preach on, brother.

See, that's the problem with these threads. They always devolve into some goofball bragging on his street racing "cred" and then he has to be set straight. I'm fine with anything destructive that you want to do to yourself, it's your life, but when it starts to involve others like street racing can and will, then I have a serious problem with that.

In my 1st gen taco, i have beat a few civics, caviliers as such, i had a real good run with my buddy's mazda b3000 4.ol, he beat me by at least a truck lenght, no shame, my truck is not meant to race but to sling mud, snow etc, i am in law enforcement, street racing is stupid, in the city and many people die, on a back road or some ones airstrip where it is a little more controled i don't mind. as for the goofs that do it in the city and hit a tree or something...well thats the price of doing business they don't look so pretty anymore.....then i can buy their parts for salvage for cheap!

Wow so all these people getting on Tcboss have never ever in their life gone over the speed limit or raced another car? If you are so against hearing what he has to say then why did you even check the post it was obviously about racing? We were all teenagers and did some dangerious things why dosen't he get his chance?

"Going over the speed limit" and street racing are two different things. If you can't see the difference then you're clueless.

Chance? To street race? You can't be serious. Nobody could be that asinine.

There is no excuse for street racing.

Both kill people and are against the law. There is no difference there. That young man is intitled to do all the same things that you did as a young man. A typical race from light to light dosen't achieve extreme speeds. The same as you do speeding on the road. Both have the ability to end with the death of an innocent person. Do we agree on that point? You should look in your back pocket before you call me clueless!

You are clueless. You're equating street racing with speeding, which could simply mean the less than 10mph over that I do on the highway, not the extreme speeds that street racing entails. I do/did my racing at the track never on the street so if he is "entitled to do the all the same things" that I did as a young man, then he should follow my example and take it to the track.

There's a perfect example of what happens when you assume things about people and that's exactly what I mean about clueless. Not only that, as Phantom said, there's a reason why driver's under 25 pay more for insurance and it's not because they use good judgment (unfortunately, I'm repeating myself here).

Or maybe those that don't approve will quit posting on these threads! That could be a thought. Easier to control yourself than to control others. If you don't like a post then just don't reply to it. By not replying maybe the post would fade away.

That's the truth. Some of these guys just don't get it and will continue try to defend the indefensible. There's really no point for this thread to exist and, in fact, most forums would never allow a street racing thread to begin with.

Or, by debating those that support such nonsense as street racing, maybe they'll realize how ridiculous they are.

Yall are both correct, and I do believe yall should start yall own site where as you could dictate who could write and what could be said. As long as you approve of it, we'll see how well your site performs. The hole point is for ppl to be able to write what they want without being belittled or judged. The begining of this post was fine and no one had any problems with it, there for it is ok. We have other threads that talk about how an intake improves our 0-60 times, so we are intrested in peformace. Ever since the vehicle was invented they have been raced, legally and illegally. It won't change. Neither will the types of ppl that drive them. Thanks for voicing your opinion it was dually noted. I'm out. To all that enjoyed this post sorry we ruined it by turning it into a pissing match. I appoligize.

hmmmm.... I guess if it's ok to talk about street racing I can go ahead and start that thread about robbing people. Both are illegal, both hurt people, but hey it's ok right?

Maybe we can talk about how to take a gun to school and shoot your classmates because they made fun of you.

I know I said I wouldn't post here again but I was just trying to say that we all do things at one point in our lives that isn't smart and may not be legal. Can we agree on that, it is the reason that I mentioned speeding, I would like to hear from someone that has never sped. The young Man Tcboss was just stating like everyone else his experience, no matter how smart of an idea it was or wasn't but he will learn and one day he may be posting things about how you shouldn't do these things. We grow up and learn it is apart of becoming an adult. But if you look back to when you were a child and an adult came down on you like they were on him what effect did that have on you? When I was younger I did things then that I won't do now. Such as these street races! Phanton I noticed you checked my page lol, you saw may car which was doing a burnout and speeding down the road that was 4 plus years ago and then there were the video's of my truck doing a burnout that was not so long ago. I don't feel that they were endangering anyone but myself you can tell by the video that I wasn't in or near a town. I do all of my racing on the track. I like the fact that you copied my quote very sharp. I also notice that you have the old school hot roddre pic so i assume that you can understand what I am getting at. Piercedtiger by no means was I saying that it was ok just that we won't change it here not until the individual doing it wants to change. As far as for the kids taking guns to school that is for someone else to deal with. I hope that yall can understand what I am saying, Kids will be kids and all we can do is try to guide them in the right direction, but forcing and belitteling them is not gonna get it, infact it might just make it worse. Just because we did these things as youngsters dosen't make us bad people.

    I know I shouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole but I couldn't resist.

History is a great learning tool. Although I have not had a horrible experience with street racing myself, it is as a whole, a stupid thing to get tied up in. Now, I'm speaking from the perspective as a person who has had HUNDREDS of street races back in the late 80's & early 90's in various cars I have had( SS Nova, 77' Monza w/350, big block Torino, and a sleeper of a Malibu Station Wagon that ran 13.40's all day long).

First off, the Tacoma in general is not quick. It's not designed to be, short and simple. The 4.0L is not at all powerfull for it's displacement. Yes, it can be supercharged and made to put out some decent power, but it's not a performance oriented engine. Those who think otherwise just haven't experienced the other side of the coin.

When (back in the day) I used to play "stop light Gran Prix" it was a 0-70 or 80 mph event. It didn't involve weaving through traffic, or distances more than 1/4 mile. In retrospect, it wasn't the smartest thing to do. But compared to what I sometimes see now and days with kids in the ricers doing the bob and weave in traffic, I almost wish that one of them would loose it, but not have flying parts take me out at the same time. At least when I used to play, it wouldn't happen in traffic, or in a congested or residential neighboorhood.

For me at least, once I came to the conclusion that the price for playing those kind of games was way too high for me to be involved in (parts, fuel, possible tickets & insurance) I really slowed down a lot(12-15 years ago). I do go to the track now and days and keep it mild on the street with both my truck, my bike, and even my wife's car. I get to the track about 15 times a year currently and that is almost enough.

    BTW,

I ran a 10.32 @ 134.5mph last wednesday night on the bike at the track. 6.68@109mph in the 1/8th.

You do realize that you are doing exactly what you say others are doing don't you?
    - You don't like what is being said yet you keep replying to it.
    - You don't want to be judged yet you are judging others.
Free speech is not only for one side of a debate, both sides are allowed to have their say.
I am not naive enough to think that street racing is going to completely go away but I can still voice my opinion against it. If your kid wants to race get him/her interested in sanctioned racing on a track. It is a lot of fun, safer and a time slip gives a lot more 'cred' than you'll ever get on the street.
