Lots of happy Stihl owners here. I recently picked up a bargain saw for some light storm clean up.
For $140, this Ryobi 37cc 16'' has been great. Starts up first pull every time. Great for small jobs.
Living in New England, I doubt Ill ever use it out on the trail, but i'll have it just in case.

Old thread but. I have a ms170 that handles most stuff just fine, but lordy its not ideal. If I were going to buy something specifically as a truck saw it'd be something like the 290 Farmboss. But if I were to add another saw to compliment the 170 it would be an 044. Probably ridiculous overkill for a truck though

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
Don’t skimp on the chaps, hard hat, glasses, and hearing protection. If you’re set on a chainsaw a Stihl 261 CM is a good choice.

If you don’t plan on actually using it then you should consider a Silky Katanaboy 650, a few wedges, and a decent axe. It will weigh a lot less and require much less maintenance.

Wise words, can't overlook the PPE. If I do end up going chainsaw it'll definitely be Stihl, and have looked at the 261. Will look into it more, thanks for the recommendation. I've got a ton of trigger time on a saw, really only 440's & 460's though which is way overkill for a truck saw haha.
