Those models will have a C-M suffix. The 261 comes standard and C-M.

Treat it with care, as with anything, run good gas and oil, store it good, and run it every 5-6 months even if you are not out cutting with it. Do these things I really don't think you will have any issues with it. Check with your dealer, because last year Stihl was increasing the warranty by one year if you purchased a 6 pack of their synthetic oil at the same time you bought the saw. I have been running this stuff in all my Stihl stuff (saws blowers and weed cutters). A lot of people I know insist on running ethanol free gas. They may be right who knows? especially if you let them set for extended periods? Me -I put the same gas in all of my stuff that I put in my truck, just with the right mixture of 2 cycle oil.
Think about it - why in the heck would ALL of the MFRS. recommend this , if it was not good for their equipment? If it was not, these engines would be dying by the millions -- I think it is more about how you take care of your stuff, rather than the type of gas -in two strokes or 4 strokes.

One more point, there was a point in time where there was both the 261 AND the 261 CM out there. Not sure this is still the case, but make sure you are getting the one you want. The non CM was cheaper, but not sure they are still available. I have been involved with electronics all my life, so naturally I wanted the CM. It is so cool to hear it calibrate itself at full throttle. I probably do mine again this fall when it is time to replentish my wood pile, as my saw has been setting for 3-4 months

I already buy about 20 gallons a week of ethanol free for my boat and mower, so the saw will run E-0 too. Both versions are still available but my local dealer didn't have any, he said he has had one on order for 5 months and will let me know when it comes in. I am planning to call around today to a couple other dealers in town.

Man, what kind of tire shine you use on your mower?
I wish there was something closer to me to get ethanol free, other wise I use nothing but Supreme fuel with stabilize in all my gas equipment.

    Tire shine...

When we lived in Raleigh it was pretty tough to find, but down here in Charlotte we have a chain of stations that keep it pretty regularly. We have two big lakes here (as pictured) so lots of boating.

Found one. Opted not to get the MTronic. I like engines I can work on.

Looks like some "one" else new came into your family! Not too often one sees a cute itty-bitty one pictured next to a chainsaw
Glad you could get what you wanted -- looks like you take good care of your stuff. Happy cutting. I have a big pile of trees piled up and ready to size down - as soon as it cools down a bit. My SIL grabbed them up with his Kubota skid steer and the grapple bucket --glad he did not drag the trees as there would be rocks and dirt to contend with

Gave her a little test today. Very impressed, balanced, no vibes, powerful. Can’t wait to see what she does after a few tanks to break in and I can run her all out.

20”. I actually would have preferred an 18” and maybe they’d have swapped it for me but I know the longer bar is safer and I’ve got a couple huge Sweet Gum trees that I want to drop them this Fall that may need the extra inches.
