I can mill out to 50” wide. Does well unless it’s oak.

I have a Stihl 038 too. It's a beast. It sat for about 20 years, no one could get it to start. I replaced the carb it, worked ok, then took it Stan's fix it Shop and the tech there worked magic on it. Rebuilt the original Tillotson carb and it's better than new ('cause no one could get it to start reliably)

    I have Stihl 038. My neighbor said it's now a collector's item.

the choke on that thing absolutely sucks. aftermarket offerings of the filter made it worse.

    Learned a lesson today.
If you use the Stihl Hedge Trimmer Blade Cleaner and Protectant, and let it sit for a few months. The stuff gets so sticky and tacky that it literally “glued” my blades together.

I had to disassemble the unit to get the blades apart.

The reason I used it was because it is supposed to be safe on all shrubbery. 0D6B4A2A-143B-4795-B5CE-DFC3BD8ECA32.jpg

Longest I’ve had a chain that still throws snow. My sharpening has come a long way.

they hate the cold. I have a husky 535i XP and it’s battery life is greatly reduced at -10 or below.

    -10 C or -10 F ?
I have the trimmer and blower. It easily lasts till the other is charged, especially if it doesn’t sit in the cold.

I agree, I tried to use mine at work this winter and even if I kept the battery (bli200) in the heated cab of my truck, then used it in the cold to cut a tree that fell across the road it wouldn’t last very long. Not like in the spring/summer/fall. Batteries need a lot of work to compete with gas engines on a performance scale imo. For the price I paid I could have had a 562xp (that I also have) that would destroy it in performance.

an Oregon clamp on one similar to this. I do use a file 1 size bigger than recommended (guidance from Buckin' Billy Ray) to really hit the top plate
