Stihl did a good job on the 400. I sold mine a couple weeks ago though & will be picking up another 500i soon.

Nice upgrade. I have no use for anything bigger than a 400 if that even but it’s nice to have the power.
my 261 has a 16” light bar and so fun to run.

Husky's are good saws do not buy them from a chain store they are not the same, buy them from a dealer. Stihl only sells them thru a dealer there is a lot of merit to that. I heat my house deep in the Maine woods with wood and have for decades. Don't get fooled by a long chain they hog power, you can cut a log just shy of 3 feet with a 16" chain and it's a lot safer. Yes I have a bigger bar but seldom use it. Buy chaps or leg guards your knees/legs will thank you.

    ^^ This ^^

I switched to Arborist pants a few years back and will never go back to chaps. The pants are just so much easier, streamlined, flexible, etc. I went with these and they're holding up great.

Yep that works, still have my old husky ones with a dozen buckles but once your in it their fine plenty of movement and decent ventilation. OK folks they may not be cool but nether are dozens to stiches in your leg.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Been running a husky 592xp to cut thru a huge pile of black locust trees up here in western NC.
I am not sure I have ever cut thru anything harder than these trees..it’s nuts how dense this wood is.
I have acquired about 5 full loads, and it’s kicking my ass!
My left forearm is jumping like a Mexican bean lol

Tried to save some money on bar oil and bought a jug of this. It’s terrible, way thinner than Husqvarna bar oil and ran through my saw super fast.

Running the stock 3/8” .050 chain. It was a clean cut but it was a lot of pushing to get it to go. Poplar wood was a lot easier than the red oak.

made the same mistake with the walmart brand. it is like water. I found it in the automotive oil section not wanting to huff to the garden section. will be good in the cooler weather but it goes quickly.

My favorite way to buck. No possibility of hitting dirt with your chain. This is pretty much the only time I ever use my 50cc saws (MS261 with 20" bar tuned by Mastermind, and 550XP with 18" bar). For anything else, it's 60cc and up, with 24" and up bar length.

I'm at the point where I can't waste my time watching regular TV anymore, so we stream a bunch of different YouTube channels.

Which ones do you guys watch? Related to chainsaws of course.

Here's a few of my regular stops:

    https://www.youtube.com/@BjarneButler

    https://www.youtube.com/@westcoastsaw1368

    https://www.youtube.com/@GuiltyofTreeson

    https://www.youtube.com/@BuckinBillyRaySmith

This channel isn't exactly related to saws, but he builds cabins. Since I plan to build a saw/timber equipment shop on my property soon, I follow him for tips: https://www.youtube.com/@Bushradical

Thanks to the Emerald Ash Borer, it seems like all I do is remove dead ash trees from my property.

Dead ash trees are dangerous to drop (as any dead tree can be). Limbs can fall when you're banging a wedge, and sometimes the holding wood doesn't always hold. The more dead they are, the more dangerous they are.

I put four of them on the ground yesterday. One of them got hung up, so I had to rip it off the stump with my excavator (handy little tool).

    The stump:

    Bucking:

The firewood pile is turning into a mountain:

Can-Am, Woodland Mills, and Kubota all working in harmony:
