No matter what you decide to do the most important step is (PREP)!!!!!! I picked up a cheap set of 17 inch for 50.00 sandblasted them and then cleaned the crap out of them with brake cleaner and sprayed them with a couple of cans of spray paint. I used a wheel paint made for wheels from pepboy's it cost 6.00 a can then clearcoated them. They offer a silver, gunmetal and a satin black I'll post pics soon.

I'm no expert by any means, but it looks like the powder coat wasn't done right. A lot of the scratches look like the powder just never stuck.

I'm all in for DuraCoat! Ive used this alot with great results. Easy to apply and clean up is a breeze (assuming you do it before it cures in your spray gun). The manufacture recomends degreasing with their product, I always use acetone to save a few bucks. So many colors and shades it may be harder deciding which color than the actual application. I use a cheap harbor freight hvlp gun and turn it way down. An air brush it time consuming for large area jobs.

No you can use any gun, just clean it very well when done. I use lacquer thinner and duracoat thinner for the final rinse. I used two guns. One was the little airbrush I showed you and the other was an automotive touchup gun. I would not use anything bigger just because you will waste a lot of paint. If the paint sets up in the gun, you will never get it out with anything. Clean the gun immediately after spraying

Duracoat is not typically finicky about going over existing finishes. The original powdercoat on the wheels would be fine. The best prep is a light sandblast. No need to strip the paint. If you don't have a sandblaster, then clean the wheels with lacquer thinner to remove every trace of oil, tar, etc. Sand with 220 - 240 paper in a crosshatch pattern. Wipe clean with lacquer thinner followed by denatured alcohol. Wear disposable gloves because even a finger print will cause trouble. Aside from needing a very clean surface, the stuff is easy to spray. It resists runs, covers quickly, and dries quickly. If you have specific questions Pm me.

Those wheels come in matte black, chrome, or machined. Machined recently came out.

Google the model # on the inside the wheel to declare which finish the wheels originally came with.

I just went for Plasi-Dip and it looks great. No problem with it coming off either (so far), and if it does, its extremely easy to touch up.

I used Rust-oleum bedliner. It has the look I wanted, it a lightly textured surface so it's easy to touch up, hides errors well and is a tough surface. But with any paint job prep is key, it took me alot longer to prep my wheels than it did to paint them. The touch up is easy too, if you want a matte black you'll be happy with the results.
