I'm getting a parts geek grill soon and can't decide what color to go with. Options so far...1. Try color match as close as I can with dark metallic grey insert? 2. Plain black with grey insert? 3 color match outer with flat black insert? 4. Say F it and try to do a satoshi! Offer up some opinions PLEASE! Btw truck is BSP.

Well, on my BSP I'm going to take the chromie from my old '08... sand it down, satoshi it with tight somewhat gloss black mesh, and BSP colormatch the exterior and interior lip to the mesh.

Where are you getting your paint? All I've found online is sooo expensive. Trying not to bust my wallet on this.

looks good but the grill I'm getting is just plain plastic. Also need to paint my emblem since I painted it black last year. Color match outer and emblem, grey insert?

Honestly I haven't decided but I'm probably just going to bite the bullet and take it to a shop. Autozone has some paint that is supposed to fairly closely match for like $10 a can but I haven't tried it. You can also get the paint from the dealer. Though I will be getting extra clear on it... bug juice and such eat into the stock clear way to easy.

Also here is the stock grill I bought for $220 at the dealer for my old 08. Shows you what the flat black center and BSP matched outside with 05-08 style with no hood scoop looks like if it interests you.

Yeah I saw that paint at Autozone. It's my first choice for "colormatch" paint, although I'm not sure how close it will be.

I got some color match paint from paintscratch.com for the grille. Tracking number says it'll be at my door today! I'll let you know how it looks and will probably put some pics up.

When you first described what you wanted to do (black with gray center), I thought it would look like crap, but I actually like how that came out. Nice job!

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with the results although the paint for the center was a bitch and not exactly perfect. I used multi colored texture paint and it was sooo thick. Just need to polish the surround and fuse the two together now.
