Still looking for a way to carry 20 gallons.. 4 Jerry's is a LOT of weight/ space lost.. Looking to do a NMW trip in September 300-400miles, no gas stations. Nearest gas will be Fort Kent, Mewould love to find a 20 gallon tank that fits in the dimensions of the bed, just dont need a permanent tank....

For one trip I think it’ll be hard to beat the simplicity of just tossing a few cans in the bed. As you can see you can fit 6 up front nice and neatly.

edit: you say the Jerry cans is a lot of weight/space lost but youll be carrying the same amount of weight and lost space with a 20 gallon tank.

If NMW means North Maine Woods, I was up there last year with only 2 spare cans. There is a gas station up there, I think it was called Raymond's. Had weird hours though. We topped off before dipping into the woods. I think we were in there for 4 days. We refilled at Raymond's at about a half tank and never touched the cans. We did not get to go as far north as I wanted to though.

They are colorful for a reason, it's an international coding. Red is always gasoline (if you want black then it must display a Red collar), Yellow it's diesel or can be black also as long as it has a Yellow collar)...

It's appears that you got about 300 lbs hanging from the rear while the box is empty...things we do for looks alone...

I just looked to purchase two Wavian cans and they’re all sold out for another month. It’s a toss up for me as well. Black because of my truck but red for the gas....I guess I have a month to decide :notsure::rolleyes:

Any of you folks been searching for a red Wavian 5.3 gallon lately? Seems Wavian USA is always out of stock so signed up for reminder when new stock arrives. Yesterday at 2:28p I got an email - red 5.3 gallon in stock. Problem? I was on a demo call from 2:30p-3p so had no chance. 3:01pmish logged back in and they were sold out. Today at 9:34a I get the next in stock email. 9:37a I was checked out!! Just checked again and of course they're already sold out.

Same thing happen to me. I just ordered two black 5 gallon Wavian cans from Grainger and even though it’s on back order the order is in. My delivery says Sept 3rd. I did see that one website had them in stock. If you Google Red Wavian fuel can one , you’ll find it. It was a little too pricey so I opted to wait for the black ones.

As a lab/chemical dude, all I can say is that if you go against color coding, PLEASE at least have them clearly labeled. Actually, you should have them clearly labelled regardless. Not for you, but if there is ever an accident, those first responders need to know what you're haulin'...

Also, I just picked this guy up for 40 bucks shipped. Its my absolute favorite can now.

I can't imagine anyone has ever had a shift slow enough that they gave half a shit about stroking out a ticket for gas can color.

Jobsites, businesses... yeah... personal use? Legally the can needs to be "suitable for gas storage" thats a bigger one to worry about... Cop will give a ticket for carrying gas in a red garbage bag before he gave you a ticket for carrying fuel in a black fuel can....

I was able to order (2x red) yesterday when their restock email went out. It was sold out in 15 minutes again. Been a shit show but I’m glad to have finally gotten an order through. Now I’m hoping it ships sometime soon.

Never would have known about the durability without landing on this site. And also never thought I'd spend so much on a dang gas can. Overland'n just for the mall is getting expensive. :) Seriously though, good luck on your order and hope to have mine at least by October. Solitude time in Big Bend State Park.

I was at my local sportsman’s warehouse and picked up a red wavian the other day for the same price I saw from online retailers. Was surprised they had a few in stock. They also carried rotopax and hi-lift jacks.
