See photos. Brand new Diode Dynamic SS3 fogs. Install went clean and they seem to be working as intended, but there is a huge color variation between the driver & passenger light. DD has been great & are sending me a new pair free of charge, but I am still curious on how this could have happened to begin with?

I have done a ton of research and can't find a single other person with this problem, and for as popular as these lights are that is kind of worrisome for me. Makes me fear that it is something wrong with my truck.

Both of them kind of seem off. Clearly there is a variation but I am having a hard time determining which one is "correct".. I purchased the SS3 Pro SAE Fog in Yellow.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

This is what Diode themselves are thinking.

DD uses a warm LED for the Yellow Fogs. It is possible they some how pout a yellow lens on a White led.
I am using DD white... I can put an amber lens on it instead, but it will be more yellowish, than if I had ordered the Amber from the get go.

probably a running change, as others have mentioned, good to hear (and not surprising) they are taking care of it, that's what counts to me!

Do these SS3s have an amber backlight option? I have SS2s mounted on my Prinsu roofrack, and the SS2 has amber backlighting w/ a 3 wire harness; I can run either the full power yellow beam or I can run a lower power amber backlight- I wired mine for both options via my SwitchPro 9100. If you have a 3 wire harness, you may have just wired one side for amber, one side for yellow.

Uh... I don't see any difference in color? I guess that's why I'm a developer and not a designer.

CAVEAT: The one shot does show the driver side as greener, but I suspect that's because the green grass is near it.

How are the fog lights working on foggy days?

i'm sure it's hard to tell with a picture. although the second one, there's a clear difference. driver's side looks greenish, passenger - yellowish.

I’m very confident your truck is fine. Power draw can’t change color only output. In manufacturing there is always tolerance for variation and all kinds of issues can get past QC.
Passenger looks Amber driver looks yellow.
Simple production mistake. Nothing to worry about since they are sending a fresh pair.

I assume that is the caused by the green grass (or something else green in the area). We have no idea what kind of camera he is using or what else is in the environment outside the pic.

i assume OP isn't making it up, so i don't think it's the grass making it a different color

Its not green in any of the other pictures of the lights themselves. Reflections introduce sources of errors. Every surface the light reflects off changes the color. So I'm considering that pic as an outlier.

This^ I did some experimenting to try and match up the fog light tone to the 2k amber light bar which didn't work out well. The idea was white pro fogs with max lenses might lower the colour tone but that wasn't idea back to baja I go so I can have a uniform colour tone.

I've got pro ditch lights and max fogs. Slight color variation between the two. Maybe someone goofed on the assembly line and put the wrong light in?

One way to make sure it isn’t the truck fault(it is not), swap the lights and see that the greenish light will move to the passenger side

Lights are difficult to photograph accurately, but side-by-side simultaneously is the best way to show color differences like this picture. The greener one looks incorrect, the lights should not be green, Diode uses 4000k emitters specifically in those lights to give them a rich yellow color with higher output efficiency due to lower filtration loss. Either there was a mistake and a 6000k white LED lamp was used in assembly with a yellow optic instead of the 4000k lamp, or there was some batch difference in the emitters used, or possibly out of bin-spec emitters provided by the supplier for the binned color temp. Either way it is good to see DD had you taken care of.
