What could improve your Tacoma?

Kind of odd, but I want to be able to be able to turn off every last light in the cab at night. Just humming along in perfect darkness. I wish I could install a master switch and cut all interior illumination with it.

 

Would be cool, but they are probably not allowed to black-out the speedo etc for liability.

 

I wish it had a grab handle over the drivers side seat window. I like to hold onto one sometimes while driving.

 

I agree that probably would be an issue.

I had a 2009 2.7L Tacoma MT and I remember being able to turn off most all of the lights with a roller dial, and then using some cleverly cut and pasted electrical tape to finally black everything out.

But then I did a lot of stupid things in college like make a shifter out of an axe handle that was multiple feet long and drive by only the moonlight on backroads.

 

I still do the ‘drive with no lights on’, and the windows open, occasionally out in the back country at night. It’s the closest I get to riding a horse.

 

I was at a Lexus dealership last week. The power tilt and telescopic wheel was nice. When your turn it off it rises and pulls back to make it easier to get in and out.
Also had a lot more telescoping.

As long as it comes with free towing to the dealer to replace snapped CVs, I’m in.

 

One thing I would DEFINITELY change is move the 4WD selector somewhere else... anywhere, but not next to the fan speed selector.

I did this a few times... jumped in the truck in a hurry and turned the fan speed on while I got going. Only that I turned to 4 Hi... and I realized it only later. 99.5% of the time it doesn't happen, but doing it even only 0.5% of the time is not good at all.

 

or smashing the 4WD selector believing it is the ignition.... just me?

More cup holders

 

Done both of these, especially trying to start it with the 4wd knob.

I’m surprisingly happy with the push start though, didn’t thing I would like it at all.

 

A supercharger option would have got $4000 more out of me

 

Headlights that illuminate the road more than 10 feet in front of the truck on low beam, reverse the positioning of the start/4WD buttons, rotate the volume/ channel selector on the steering wheel, make a tailgate lock standard equipment.

Reasonable suggestions for aftermarket mfrs?

1. Mirror or bluetooth camera option to aid parallel parking
Meso's Puddle Pods could possibly be adapted to house a cheap camera.

2. OEM style second dome light over rear seats in DC
Light it up, man!


Reasonable suggestions for Toyota?

1. Better stock reverse light distribution for night time backup camera operation
Nuff said, and yeah yeah I know TMC doesn't listen to forums...

2. Metal caps bonded onto bed mount bosses.
I've read this is a wear point especially for the front bosses, so far with a truck just over three months old it has not been a problem for me.

 

how about a windshield that doesn't crack when you fart too hard. WTF.

 

Have not read through all the replies, but I bet this one has not been mentioned yet (correct me if it has):

I’d like to see Toyota offer the truck as a cab and chassis (i.e., no bed installed from the factory) for upfitting it with aftermarket utility or flat beds. I know a lot of people use Tacomas as work trucks. But we don’t have the ability to buy the truck without the bed, the way you can do with so many 1/2 and 3/4 ton pickups.

If Toyota offered that sort of buying option, I bet a lot more equipment upfitters would offer custom solutions for the Tacoma platform. As it stands now, there are practically zero off-the-shelf options for utility or flatbeds that will fit our trucks.

 

Dampers for the doors. My kids and even at times, I find myself doing it, the doors are light and very easy to slam shut. Some sort of damper to soften the door closing. I am looking at some aftermarket items, but would be nice if it was default.
