So I’ve narrowed down my slider picks to either Cali Offroad or RCI. I keep going back and forth on which degree to get (Cali offers 0 and 25 and RCI offers 5 and 20).

Part of me likes the idea of having a usable step and the added ding protection from parker cars, but I also like how much cleaner the more upright degrees look. Though from looking at pics, it seems like the 20 degree RCI’s stick out a bit further than Cali’s 25 degree. If that is the case, then RCI’s 20 might still be usable as step when needed.

What angle do most people on here go with and what made you choose?

I use my Caliraised 0-degree sliders as steps to access the roof rack and RTT all the time. Very handy.

Short wife likes the step function, too.

Also actually used the kick-out the other weekend to push off a tree.

Love my zero degree sliders. They are used as steps a lot more often than I thought they would.

I have 20 degree sliders and use them as a step but only because it’s otherwise too hard to get in without dragging my leg across the slider and covering it with dirt. I’m 5’10” and have about 3” lift total.

I ordered sliders like a month ago. I thought to myself there’s no way any companies are going to do sales this year.

This is why I’m king of the idiots.

You can pretty much stand on your sliders whatever the angle is, and the ding protection will be present regardless. I have a set of BAMF's that work just fine and I don't even remember what angle they were when I bought them. For standing on them to access the roof, I think a key factor is how you coat them. Something with a little texture (self etching primer + Rustoleum bed liner) gives you more purchase for the amount of time you will actually be spending on them. For a stock height or even slightly lifted Tacoma, they probably will be too low to actually use as a step when getting into or out of the vehicle and just cover the inside of your left leg with dirt. Kids or wife might appreciate them but I would buy for the primary function of protecting the truck first.

Do you think you can use them as step even with Cali's 25 degree option? It looks like they're sucked in pretty close to the body, not sure if I can even get my toes on there. Though I'm completely judging from pics, as I said..

Might be a little tight, but you could probably get your toes on there. Or just open the door and stand on the edge of your cab.

I cut off the angle of my Brute Force Fab sliders to make them flat (0 degrees). I've got fill plates in mine and I use them as steps all the time. Also, the kickout makes a great place to set my coffee cup when I'm digging for my keys after hitting McDs.

I picked up mine from a TW member who is a great fabricator (Shmellmopwho) and he recommended a 10deg for mine as I wanted to use them as steps. The 0 deg sliders sometimes look like they're slanted down at the outside edge. The 10deg has a slight upward cant but they make a great step with the fill plates. Good luck!

I use zero degree, single rail sliders, sends a very clear message to vehicles that park next to me.

There isn’t much room for the feet on the Cali 25s I’ve got the Cali 25 no kickout, powder coated. My kids get their feet on their though I see the vans footprints on top of them all the time. I used to have the 25, with kickout, rhino coated I sold those though.

How did the rhino coating hold up the chipping vs the powder coated?

I thought I was the only one who noticed that! Looks like 0 degrees is almost angled downward depending on how you look at it..
