It looks like a baby rattlesnake, but it has no rattle. It had some gnarly fangs and a wide head, so I am very certain it is venomous. What is it? Anyone?

Looks like a rattler to me, they don't have rattles when they are young and are potentially more dangerous because of this since they have no way to warn intruders of their presence. I guess their venom is more potent as well, but not sure. How'd you kill it?

If you look closely at it's head, you can see the image of the reaper I think. So that must mean it's a deadly snake haha.

So I hope I don't get too many animal lovers upset, but the kill was pretty good (if I do say so myself).

A buddy let me borrow a 50" blow/dart gun. So when I saw the little guy in my garage I thought it was a perfect opportunity to try it out. Loaded it up with a 10" spike and shot from about 5 yards. Nailed him right behind the head.

Anyway, I wasn't going to risk letting it live since I couldn't identify it. I have pets and a curious 2 year old that hang out in the garage with me occasionally. Normally I like having snakes around to kill any other rodents.

i’ll only kill a rattle snake or copper head(thats the only venomous snakes we have). all none venomous snakes are cool to me, and i wont kill them if they are in a garage i may move them out but wont kill them.

also in some states it’s illegal. don’t believe me look it up or ask you local game wardens/DNR or fish and game officers. i know in TN it is, because my dad is one. well he is retiring the 30th after 35+ years.

Oh, it's definately a rattlesnake. Can't pin down subspecies. Might be a Western Diamondback, but don't usually see them as far north as northern Colorado. Several rattlesnakes look quite similar, so could just as easily be one of those. However, if the weather has been fairly warm in that area for the last couple of years, my vote is in favor of the Western Diamondback.

Don't fret, I ran over a garter snake on accident with a lawn mower a few summers ago. He committed suicide though, just slithered right under the deck and chop chop chop chop! If those hippie peta guys saw that, I would have been put on a firing squad I bet.

Few Diamondbacks have true diamonds. The pattern is consistent with that subspecies.
