    Moment of truth.

    I gave it a good 20 minute flush this morning, and no issues there.

    It's currently on a hot water cycle, both wash and rinse drained and the floor is still dry. Win.

    ...

    A crazy ass thought occurs to me. My laundry room flooded when I was washing linens, but at the same time I was hauling buckets into the kitchen as part of my weekly maintenance on the fish tank.

    This tank:

    PXL_20231120_151200063.jpg

    I was doing some plant pruning (which normally goes into the trash) but I also noticed that there was a sickly long weed that I was intending to cut, and it wasn't there during the water change.

    I'm really wondering if my snake walked it's way from the mud room to under the kitchen, where it picked up a clog caused by my improper use of dumping aquarium water down the split sink? Because while it's always possible for wild roots to dig into that line, that's a hell of a reach for them to get under the house to do so.

    :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

    Maybe one of these days I'll borrow a scope to check.

    my washing machine overflows out of the drain sometimes. is that where yours overflows, or from the top of the machine itself or something?

    From the drain. There was a buildup of lint and also who knows what somewhere between the laundry drain and the kitchen sink. Actually, I'm thinking it was even downstream of the kitchen, because I noticed this morning that the sink is draining faster too.

    That might be interesting. Years ago the fiancee commissioned a small painting. I was thinking of having another one done.

    I would get your lines scoped. It's inexpensive and you'll know if you have a larger issue or not. They'll also be able to tell you where the issue is if you have one.

    My brother had a house they were looking at scoped and they found all the sewer lines under the house were broken and just emptying under the slab. They passed on that house. We took note of that, and had our house done during the inspection. All good clear to the street.

    I really am going to scope that part of the house ASAP. Probably some time after the holiday. I'm glad its draining again, but its a 60 year old system. I might be worth the peek.
