23, great-paying job, shitty job, own a house and race mountain bikes. Just me and my dog. Trying to set myself up for happiness when I am older like you all. I am beginning to see that money isn't everything.

Got my heart broken in college so I need a change of scenery, trying to make the move to the Northwest but I am being picky about my career choice out there. Now I am out of college I need a new challenge...something to work towards.

Hope this qualifies for the thread :)

Became a Mormon for a girl at 17, got married at 21, had first son at 22, had second son at 25, became a Christian, wife left me right after, single ever since with a couple relationships in there but no remarry yet. Now my oldest is almost 18 and heading into senior year and top percentage in his class and heading towards the medical field and my youngest now 15 years old and I are working on his first car and both are Christian and not Mormon! I had a ton of bitterness for many many years so now I am trying to take care of me and be happy. My younger son and I started a YouTube channel to have fun with and I am totally enjoying it and its making me be vulnerable which is hard! But I'm 40 now and I feel like I am just now starting to live my life. Thankful for my boys, our humble home, a cool 4runner and decent health!

I did things all kinds of weird. Grew up in Germany, moved out at 15, lived on the streets and traveled for two years (way more fun in Europe I promise), worked a million different jobs, lived out of my very first car (a BMW 735 I bought for $500 hahaha), and then moved around a bunch until I was 24. Then I joined the Air Force .... that's late, right?! I feel like I've lived a thousand lives already, but it's been an absolute blast and now it's just my dog and me, and the best part is, these days we have to run away to the woods on the weekends to sleep in the truck again! Life's a ride, isn't it?

Great thread, by the way! You guys are awesome!

    Cheers!

Started drinking good beer at age 45. Too long of a wait, imo. :D

At 18, went to work for AT&T (Western Electric). At 19, got drafted and spent the next 4 years in Vietnam (it's a long story I would just as soon forget). Went back to WECo. Retired at age 48. Their retirement plan was 30 years service and OUT. In between, got married, divorced and remarried. We had a son and a daughter. After retirement moved the family to Laguna Beach CA. Started my own appliance repair business. 10 years later we got tired of life in the fast lane, and moved to Northeast Georgia because my wife's sister lived there. My wife is Colombian. She is beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, responsible, funny, and good-hearted. She loves to party and can drink with the best of them. She's tough as nails, but still the most loving person I've ever known. She always said that her dream was to move back to "her country." So I finally gave in and agreed to give it a look. Six months later we sold our farm, packed our bags and made the move to Colombia. Never looked back or had any regrets. We bought a farm in the mountains north of the city of Medellin. We've been here for ten years and are still enjoying life like never before. At 74 years still tear around the dirt roads on my dirt bike. Just the other day my wife asked me what our next adventure will be.

I feel like I did everything later in life, but after reading this I guess not. Interesting thread. The only thing I guess qualifies is I waited 40 years to GTFO of CA. Best move yet.
