I dropped my 80 off at the fabricator last Friday for sliders, gutter mount roof rack, and rear bar with dual swing outs. Tomorrow will be a week since I took and makes me realize how much I enjoy driving it, even if it's only a couple days a week. He just sent me a couple pics of the roof rack, I think I'm going to like it a lot more than the Yakima.

Sorry for the pic quality but that's all I have

The rack is looking good, but it also looks HEAVY. I know it's not complete so maybe I'm jumping the gun but those skinny gutter mounts are going to put a ton of pressure on those spots on the rain gutter and will likely end up bending it. Wider gutter feet will solve that.

That's exactly what I was thinking on the gutter mounts. The rack is actually pretty light, 1x3 for the frame and 1x1 square tubing for the supports, wall thickness is 14ga.

Yeah that's all about the same materials I used to build my bed racks that I sold for a while. My racks ended up around 65lbs but were not as big as yours. If I were to guess your rack will probably weigh about 85-90lbs when it's all said and done. Not horrible for a steel rack but still kinda heavy. I didn't think much of it when I was building bedracks until I got my Prinsu Rack on my Cruiser that is full length and weighs 45lbs. It's super light. Aluminum will do that.

Still looks like you'll have a good rack and it will be strong, but I'd definitely change up those gutter mounts or you'll have issues.

Do you have a suggestion for gutter mounts? It's not too late, I can change the out. For a while I won't be hauling much up there but eventually I will mount a tent up top.

Found a heck of a nice built Taco tonight at a local car dealer. 2010, 40,000 miles, TRD supercharger, ARB front and rear lockers, Fox shocks, ARB front bar with Warn winch, all pro rear bar, and lots more. Sure would look good setting beside the 80 in the garage. Now I need to work on the wife and tell her how good she would look driving it ;)

There are quite a few options but an easy one would be to get some Gamiviti gutter mounts. I like supporting those guys because they're cruiserheads but more importantly the mounts are high quality. Look at the gutter mounts about halfway down the page below the 100 series ones.

Thank you, sir. I called my guy and he said he already welded 6 on so I may go with these a while and then swap out with the ones you suggested before I add any weight up there.

Bummer. Well hopefully they don't damage your raingutter. Should be fine if you don't have too much weight up there.

Hopefully the new gearset arrives before this weekend. There is some grinding to do inside the case you could do before they arrive.

I picked my 80 up this evening so it was too dark to grab some pics but this was a couple nights ago while it was still being worked on. This was also before it was painted. Going to have my spare mounted tomorrow also, this is one he took just to make sure everything fit. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The Jerry can box will hold 3 cans or a 35 quart Yeti. I sent my 45 qt with the cruiser but the box was way too big so he cut it down.

Pulled out the tire chains I had for the Tacoma. Stoked that they also fit my 315's. Couple trips we have planned for the next couple months should be a bit more fun with these. :)
