I blew a diehard platinum battery up because my alternator decided to shit the bed, in the process of replacing the alternator I put too much weight on the upper rad hose connection to the head and recracked the previous owners fix on the aluminum connection.... so im pissing coolant into a bucket and drinking a beer

my lx450 is out of commission for probably a week while I wait for parts, I just wish the PO would have fixed it correctly....

Trust me when I tell you to get a cheap programming cable and download the free software from Kenwood. It allows you to use every option and set memory from a computer instead of hand jamming everything! Let me see if I can get the link for the cable but it was like 8 or 9 bucks...totally worth it!

So yesterday I brought her home from Atlanta...9 long hours each way...but I got 400 miles from the tank which is very impressive coming from 220 a tank.

Today...washed and removed some crappy parts that were on there like the sun roof visor that was holding crap in there like crazy and the broken rear mudflaps that were tweaking the flairs away from the body. Also fixed the super awesome 80's antenna that the PO had just tossed in there all floppy...that antenna is awesome and going no where! Also removed the shitty front Tint...it was nasty.

Gave her a good old bath and am going though everything to see what I need to do to her to get it right for me.

Sweet thanks!! What are you putting in the 80? Or were you able to pull your 281 out of the taco?

Yeah I grabbed my Cobra 75 and 281A out of the Tacoma. I had been thinking about getting a dual band with a remote face but I may just end up keeping the 281...it's a great radio and while it seems complex it is really simple and user friendly in the overall HAM radio world. I'm hunting for spots now or I'll sell it to a friend who wants it solely for APRS stuff. At 65w it would be a killer APRS dedicated rig!

Haahaahaa APRS was one reason I got it... If I end up with my Dads LX570 I will put something like the d-710 in it. Eventually I am going to get all the Licensing as well. Right now only a "tech" so can't do much. I really enjoy it. Most people say it's out dated. Doesn't look like it.

Whoops. Edit. May or may not have it has my daily driver soon...

I love 2m. It is so clear for wheeling and allows you some reach to a repeater if you need help. It's not super popular on the east coast but my local repeater is busy 24/7!

I want to get a repeater for our property in The Tahoe basin. My wife and dad are working on their Lic too. Since we get crappy cell service at our place. Most reliable form of communication there is. IMO anyway..

I would love to have the Power to reach You on the east coast.
