Just saw that - very nice. The Firebird was my first car - I was dead set on an older car for my first. My cousin had a 1970 Nova and I wanted something similar. This thing was a pile though - we bought it from a friend and it had a ton of wiring issues which we basically replaced, no dash, and then the engine was rebuilt horribly and caused many issues. Still loved it though. If I could go back, I would have just swapped the motor out with a pre-built or something and kept it.

The Macan was a blast to drive, but I had a few issues with it. Passenger seat functions stopped working, rear sub frame creaking, exhaust pipe snapped, and was burning a quart of oil every 1500-2000 miles (normal according to porsche). Everything except the oil consumption was fixed under warranty, but that was about to expire so I decided to sell it for peace of mind.

yeah i know all about it. when i got mine it had 4 burnt up drum brakes and a barely running Pontiac 400 with a worn down cam. i replaced the cam and the motor blew up on the test drive after all that. after months getting a motor in it the thing caught on fire while driving. ended up doing a frame off resto, building up a $12k road race suspension and a highly custom Chevy BB in it, all custom through & through. finished it up around 2000.

not sure but i think i may still be paying for that fucker.

2018 Mazda 3, 2.5, vehicles usually last 9 months to 1 year for me. Everyone lately keeps asking when I’ll be selling the Tacoma. I’ve owned a few of them and think i’ll try keeping this one for a bit longer.

wow. i would not be ok with that oil burn..i was ok with it in my beater Subie with 180kmi, but not in a newer vehicle, no way.

my last car (the LeMans above was 2 ago) was a very modified R32. i loved it, great NA motor, meh DSG, kinda fun but heavy and slow. but i still couldn't slow down enough. so i bought a MT Tacoma to slow me down. and now I'm driving faster with way less grip. tons o fun!

I definitely wasn’t, but my hands were tied after Porsche NA said it was within spec.

Haha. I have an MT Taco as well. It’s way more fun than I thought it would be.

Only previous vehicle was a 5 speed '06 Scion tC in Flint Mica. Not a single issue and was a reliable commuter for 60K+ miles. Sold it to my mom (lol) for down payment on my current ride, an '09 DCSB V6 4x4 SR5 when it became too difficult to haul children in and out of the tC. Bought the Taco in 2013 with 42K miles and now it's at 120K-ish miles. Only two issues: a leaking valve cover gasket that I discovered when I changed the oil for the first time and was fixed under warranty. And the frame was replaced about 2K miles ago. I love my Taco and wouldn't trade it for anything. Hope to have it until it dies.

Glad you enjoyed it. I searched to see if there was a similar thread, and to my surprise there wasn't one. Since we all love sharing in here, I figured it would be good one. Just wish I had pictures of my older cars, especially the '72 Nova.

I haven’t had as many as some you but here is my list.

1992 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L blew transmission when I still had my learners permit.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L, no problems but sold it when I bought the navigator.

1999 Lincoln Navigator, this thing was a beast. 300hp v8, full time 4x4, but I averaged about 10mpg haha. Bought it used from a family friend with about 115k for $3500. Drove it for a few years to about 180k and sold it for $2500. Super reliable never had any problems.

2003 and 2006 Sr5 4runners. Both V6. Both very reliable. I sold the 03 with about 165k to a friend. I had wanted to purchase a 100 series land cruiser, but ended up back in another 4Runner. Traded in the 06 last year for my Taco

2018 DCSB Trd Offroad with the 6 speed manual. My favorite one yet hopefully I’ll enjoy this one for years to come.

89 Toyota PU 5MT - I first learned to drive a manual on this thing. Great old truck. I wish I still had it.

87 CRX Si - Very fun to drive. I blew the engine by being a dipshit kid.

86 Ranger RWD - My dad and I built this into a fun but crappy looking rat rod. It's been passed around to me, my sister, my brother a couple times, my other brother - and my dad still owns it. We cannot kill this thing. It must have over 400k miles by now.

89 BMW 325i - Fun to drive, but otherwise complete piece of trash. I fixed almost everything you can fix in one of these, and eventually decided to give it away for free.

02 Eclipse - Fun to drive - Put it in the garage and replaced the timing belt, parts of the subframe, and the entire front wheel linkage assembly. Then bought a new set of tires. Almost immediately after the transmission died. I sold it cheap.

2000 Grand Cherokee - Was never not broken. MPG was so bad I thought it was playing a prank on me. Someone totalled it sitting on the side of the road. It happened to be for sale at the time. Insurance paid me $1000 more than I was asking.

2013 Focus ST - My first car after college making "big boy" bucks. Fast, but not very fun otherwise. Torque steer and turbo lag were an issue.

2013 Civic Si - Very fun car. Much less power than the ST, but far better handling and much more responsive. Traded it in for my 19 Taco DCSB OR a few days ago, and I'll probably regret it someday.

My wife's cars (We've been together since I was 20 and she was 17)

92 Toyota PU 4x4 MT - Her Dad (an old Vietnamese guy) took it apart and I don't think he put it back together the same way.

2000 Beetle 2.0T 5MT - Her "dream car" as a 19 year old girl. Fun to drive, but comically unreliable.

2016 Corolla - Great car, but if I never have to drive it again, I will die a happy man.

Cars we like, but may or may not ever buy
    Rav4 - My wife's current "dream car"

E30 M3 - Would wet myself if I could find one in good condition

Cayman S - Have liked for many years

Accord 6MT sport - Fun car, and very practical for a family man such as myself

Tesla - I hear they are great cars, but I'll probably wait a while until the technology improves. More competition from other automakers will help.
