Paid $4300 for my 2000 Pre-runner 3.4 in October of this year. Had 150k on it and had basic maintenance was done-Tbelt, new brakes and the underbody was almost new looking, and the body is in excellent shape. Literally no rust on this truck brought up from GA 2 years ago. However it has a bunch of leaks from valve gaskets, PS, and somewhere else.

So putting some money into it and doing the work, but that was kind of the plan. New rims, tires, cosmetics etc. Fingers crossed nothing major happens for the time being. I guess i'm into it for about 6k including registering it to be on the road.

2004 Extended Cab, 1 owner, absolutely no rust whatsoever, silver, m/t, 4x4, new bfgs ko2, 150k miles. I paid 12,000 for it. It has always been garage kept. It is a very solid truck. I had been looking for 6 months or longer when I found it. I got very lucky. Although, I may have overpaid a little for it.

paint is orange at the top and a bunch of scratches. Clean unmolested interior. Took a gamble because transmission was hard to put in gear when test driving. New shifter bushing and trans fluid and it shifts a lot better. It’s my daily.

    bought this past December

2003 2.7 minimal rust from rear shackles back, 76,000 miles, little old lady wanted $4000, it was her deceased husband’s wood truck, gave her $4500.
shopped around for a year to find one, turned out to be right under my nose at a customers house, just sitting there waiting for me.

I got my 99 in 2004 with 40,000 mi for $17,000 on a lease return from a dealership. My mechanic at the time said he'd buy it from me if I didn't want it so I kept it and now it has just over 311k mi. I need to have it gone through thoroughly soon to avoid any potential future problems but otherwise it runs great. If something happened to it, I'd definitely try to find another after I stopped crying :).

Everybody is posting up their good deals, but I'll buck the trend. No shame here. I paid 13k for a 2004 V6 4x4 MT with 135k miles in 2014. In retrospect it's clear that I overpaid, but I was over a barrel because I needed a truck, was only interested in 4x4 tacos and also needed financing. My dad and I had been sharing an old F-250 and when it kicked the bucket he decided he wasn't buying a replacement truck.

The taco had an exhaust leak and a CEL when I bought it, and had lived most of its life in Saltsylvania. The dealer had coated the frame in some frame paint which hid most of the issues for a year or two. $8000 and 5 1/2 years later the truck is sorted and has a new frame, suspension, brakes, bushings, wheels/tires, stereo, etc.

If I could do it all over again I'd have been more patient, and would avoid any truck north of the Ohio River, but I've learned a lot fixing up ole crusty. Still cheaper than buying a new truck.

yikes. When I bought my 02’ 4x4 I sold my 99 2.4l rwd with 234k miles for $3,300 so I’d say you got a good deal!

I did just replace ball joints though

I got a decent deal. I wouldn’t say it was great or even good. But I was searching 4-5x a day and ended up finding the truck on my girlfriends Facebook marketplace (I don’t use fabo) and of course it had been sitting for a couple months. Lol
