In April. I just emailed a bunch of dealers asking what's the best they could do. Every time one would go down so would the others.

Dont know if I already posted.
    Most recently I got a
2.7 4x4 manual transmission 2008 access cab, with 85,000 miles on it for about 15,000$.
    I think I did well.

I looked around and was astonished at the prices for used Tacos. I guess there's truth to the claim that it holds the highest resale value of any vehicle in the US.

I ended up locating my 2012 Base 4x4 Access Cab, 86.6K miles, at a used car dealer for $16.6K

Just picked up 2012 4x4 5sp Reg Cab w/77k for $11.8. Compared to what others were selling for i felt very happy with price. A lot of older and higher mileage stuff going for more.

It will be a hunting truck and work truck during summer. Im thinking between 3-4k miles per year.... but its fun to drive so we shall see.

That's a damn good deal! Would love to find something similar for my son. I've been casually looking but I still have another year before he is 16.

I think I just got lucky. The guy needed a truck for a few years to do work on his house. He was done and didn't need a truck anymore. He had no idea what to ask so I agreed to his asking price as I thought it was fair and his ad was honest. He wasn't kidding about needing tires! Genuinely a great transaction. He drove it to my house and my wife and I drove him home talking about anything and everything on the way.

Glad I didn't get the Frankentruck Chevy 1952, 1981, 1989, 1992 pickup truck that started me on the road to buying another truck. I already have a couple of automotive projects and I didn't need another. Just needed a truck to get me down the shore and pick up stuff from the big box stores as needed.

Keep looking, they are out there. Good luck with your search.

    $3500

Failed inspection, so I've had to buy lower ball joints ($75), rigged some front turn signals ($20), bought 4 17" rims with used tires ($250), 1.25" spacers for alloy rims ($110), and mag lugs ($30). Roughly $4000 total.

2006 AC, 5 lug 2.7 liter with just at 70,000 miles on it. Bought in Texas on a whim, drove back to Georgia same day. Paid $7500. Auto tranny, power windows/AC, etc. Just stripped factory stereo added Sound deadening, NEX 4200, 2 pair Polk components and a decent 5 channel amp. Totally love it.

Just gotta lift it up a few inches, a little too squatty for me. THoughts on lift?

is the truck an auto or manual? I want to hear for members that have the new 6 speed auto with the 2.7. I presently have a '12 2.7 with the 4 speed auto and wanting to know how much of a difference the 6 speed tranny would make.

It's the auto. It's been okay but sometimes really revs up and shifts funny. I have not confirmed if this is true but my dealership told me there has not been a TSB issued for the 4cyl transmission besides topping off fluid.

Did you find that the accelerate better with the 6 speed? I'll be replacing my truck in the next year and will have to decide between the V6 or 4. I've been very happy with my 2.7 because if it's reliability and excellent gas mileage.

I went from a 2014 2.7 DCSB auto to a 2017 2.7 DCSB auto. I enjoy driving the new truck much more. Still not fast, but much better in terms of acceleration and overall drivability. My brother has the 3.5 in his 2017. His has noticeably more power. But I'm happy with the 2.7 for my needs (never tow and essentially just use the truck for commuting and Hone Depot runs). My wife has a Sequoia with the 5.7 and tow package.......that thing will far out tow any Tacoma I would have bought.

This is the only Tacoma I've ever driven other than a test drive of a 2nd gen 4cyl. It accelerates fine. I only notice the lack of power on one big hill around here that is a highway on ramp. It just takes an extra foot smashing for it to go down a gear and it's fine.

I sometimes debate if I should have gotten the V6 and if I could do it again I probably would have upgraded.

I've been averaging 21mpg or so but I have a big roof rack on top and took off the air dam. But that seems about the same as the V6. Before the roof rack and air damn removal it was more like 23mpg.

We shall see if it's more reliable in the long run though as that's really why I got it. I would test drive both and see the difference before you decide for sure.
