I think mine was about $1,000 for 7 years/100k. The guy was fired the next week, not sure if that means anything.

I recently met a guy who owns a vehicle warranty company. He owns a 30,000 square foot home valued at 20 million. Do you think he got that rich paying out? The fact is when you buy from Honda or Toyota, you don't need an extended warranty.

Not following the logic here. So a dude who makes a nice living selling vehicle warranties is a shining example of why people shouldn't buy extended warranties ?

If the guy you met lived in a shack would that fact then incline you to buy an extended warranty?

My dealer offered/threw in a lifetime powertrain warranty at the time of purchase -"FREE". No real caveats, just maintain the vehicle per the manufactures maintenance intervals and keep records.

I didn't get an extended warranty. Never needed one on any Toyota the family has owned since the late 70's. Apparently I'm one of few as the dealer thought I was crazy for not giving them more of my money.

Oh my I wish I would have gotten a copy of what i was offered from the Toyota dealer I bought from. It had 4 tiers and the top included services, bumper 2 bumper/100k, yearly application of some paint protectant (hoax item IMO), etc...$5,100. No joke. I instantly politely informed her I wouldnt entain any of the plans. She replies "well, if your touchscreen stereo goes out in year 3, that alone could run nearly $4,000". I said, "at that point I will buy a $400 aftermarket unit and self-install".

I was remarkably polite about it and she copped an attitude "well if the price the hang up? We can negotiate a lower one" i just said "no need". She said "fine, sign here to acknowledge your own refusal".

Imagine though...$5000+!!! Increasing your out-the-door price by nearly 20% for something u may never ever use...and they would be selling it with those prices if they didnt get people dumb enough to bite. Amazing.

I bought mine CPO with 7500 miles on it a couple months ago. Came with 100k drivetrain, paid $450 to extend that to bumper-to-bumper. Finance guy said it was $1 over cost, seemed like a pretty good guy. He drove a tacoma too and I got the impression he was trying to hook me up.

I bought my 15 two years ago and have 33k on the clock. I inquired with the dealer I purchased it from about extended warranty earlier today. They offered 7 years 100,000 miles for $2495. That seems really high. Any recommendations for an extended warranty up to 125,000 miles for a more reasonable price?

Try some different Dealers as $2495 is insanely high.

Just got over the extended warranty I bought when my 2009 truck was new. 7 years are gone and at this point I don't need it. Used once when I noticed a
leaky rear shock. They replaced it with a similar one and never use it again. This will be the second "extended" and I never use that also. (Ford truck)
    Do your own judgement.
