I found my canopy on CL. Dude was selling his truck with a canopy and I made him an offer of $500 for the canopy alone. Told him he'd still get his asking price without it so he might as well make some extra cash. I replaced the brake light, a few gaskets and will be adding windoors to it. I'm guessing I'll be all into it about $800 when finished.

Don't be afraid to harass somebody selling a truck with a canopy on it. They may break it out and sell it to you separately.

Found this one on craigslist for 100 could not turn it down. It has 45 inches of head room at the back. It looks goofy but i love the room72933DBA-BEA3-41E6-9270-9BF9F4FDF63C.jpg

a tube of silicone and an hour will fix this tacoma “issue”.

took me a while to figure this water entry point out but it’s easily remedied and has nothing to do with a topper.

ARE Z Series w/ auto lock, led lighting, full carpet, etc. $1000 for topper + $700 for professional sanding and painting with Raptor Liner. $1700 all in. Happy with that price especially given the supply/demand imbalance in Colorado for these things…

I'm at -$100 for my ARE cap.

Bought one for $100 and drove it back home from the next state over. Same evening I got home, I found a better ARE cap with sliding screen windoors and carpet lining in my town for $100. Picked that one up and sold the original for $200.

Spent the difference on raptor liner and dye to fix the peeling paint. Also replaced a few seals and pistons, and I'm in the middle of fabbing up a roof rack now. Also added Gecko LED strips to the inside ceiling and rear hatch.

Technically nothing, or technically 15k, whichever you prefer, it came with the truck.

I looked it up once but IIRC it's an ARE V series. I think the original invoice which came with the truck's records was $1700 in 2011?

No windows other than the rear, which is great usually but sometimes not so great, it's got carpet inside which is whatever to me and aluminum reinforced attachment ears though I don't know if that's standard across all cap models or not but is good to see as fiberglass alone I wouldn't expect to last with wheeling and flexing on the 4 mounting tabs.

I added some strips of 3M D shaped weather stripping to better seal it and fill the little bit of gap between it and the bed rails.

It's become a bit of a sticker magnet though.

I tried to workout a trade with the same LEER dealer recently for a hard tonneau cover. He had no need for it in his inventory but told me the same shell has gone up to $3,300 since I bought it with an 8 week wait. (Las Vegas, NV area.)

If I could go back I would never have gotten rid of my tonneau and saved myself $3K...:frusty:
