If you plan on purchasing a new Glock and you are either law enforcement or military, Glock has a special purchase program (must show credentials/I.D). Go to a licensed Glock dealer/armorer (not just any gun dealer that happens to have a Glock in its case) and ask to take advantage of this program. Most glock models are available at anywhere between 20-35% off. You have to ask for this program as it is not advertised openly by most dealers or on Glock's website. I have bought two Glocks through this program. Incidentally, Beretta also has this program. Not sure if Springfield or Smith & Wesson does--never inquired.

Personally, I most always buy my guns used from some dolt at a gun show that is either desperate for cash or wants another type of gun so badly they are willing to take a loss. The last gun I picked up was my Springfield Ultra Compact V-10 with 3 Wilson mags for $400 cash. Easy pickin'.

Now that I am on my computer and not on my phone I see that you live in NJ... fun... gun laws are super lame there. Make sure you have your FID and Permit to Purchase in order... I used to live in NJ and still like to shoot in NJ, but I own very few guns that are legal in NJ, can't buy ammo in NJ because I don't have a FID and NJ doesn't recognize my FFL...

From what I remember there is a limit on high cap mags to 15 rnds too, so no 33 rnd mags for you or even the +2 magazine extenders for the standard mags...

I stopped using them when they went to that VIP bullcrap.

    Mil, LEO, EMS, FF's

    All get the blue label.

However I did not know beretta did, wonder if they do EMS in general or not.

Idgaf..I want to plink at a legal range, dont care about a 33 round mag. Ill go to a gunshow and buy one if it comes down to it.

I have my Firearm id card, and a handgun permit takes me less then a week to get, at least it did the last time I applied for one, but never got the gun.

With this being your first gun purchase, you may want to check out the Springfield XD line for its added safety features (Palm safety and Round in the Chamber indicator are very good to have, especially someone new to handguns). Springfield's are also known for being reliable, just like the Glock.

When I bought my Springfield, I too went out to buy a Glock due to their reputation. It just didn't feel right in my hand (I later learned that many people feel this way). Very happy I have the XD now.

For shits and giggles, I took the number I was given,$600. Took 20% off of that, brought it down to $480. Perfect. I'm going to call around tomorrow and see who acknowdleges that discount. I'm going to apply for the permit friday. :)

Didn't know about FF and EMS included in that program. Hope it works out for those of you planning to buy. Shop around until you find a dealer that takes part in the program. In San Antonio, we have 10 or so gun stores and only one honors this program (Dury's Guns off of I-37 and Hot Wells if anyone is in the local area).

searching the glock forums, lots of people say call glock directly if the dealer your at dosent recongnize the program. The people from glock will acknowledge it, with valid paperwork, you will have a new weapon.;)

Possession of a 16+ rnd magazine will get you a free ride to jail, doesnt matter where you got it. Just FYI, don't want you going to jail over it. NJ has a 15 rnd cap on all mags, they aren't legally allowed in the state unless you are a LEO or Military.

Also FYI, NY state (not city) allows high cap mags if they are pre ban, aka pre 1993 manufactured, it is stupid but that is the law. MD allows high cap mags if you bought them outside of the state and bring them in as kits, but you aren't allowed to sell, buy or give them away in MD... There are no such exceptions in NJ.

Good Luck, the Glock discount sounds like the best way to go.

33 rnd mags are great for the zombie apocolypse and for competition where time is critical, but in training 10 rnd mags are king, you get to practice reloading, because anyone can pull a trigger, not many can reload quickly and smoothly.
