ok sorry y'all I'm a noob trying to learn. I binded a CV and blew out my spider gears (at least, about to see if they hit the pinion gear). I'm searching for both spider gears and a new front diff just to be sure and I'm finding a bunch of websites but the info is all over the place. I have a 2004 AC TRDOR 4WD with I believe 4.10s. The diff is stamped with both a 7 and an 8. It has a R86 sticker. It's def a high pinion.

    Thanks y'all

Also considering doing a lunch box locker instead of new spider gears... Any input?

Axle code is on the door jamb sticker. Theres a sticky with a chart in it to cross reference.

You can get complete used front diffs for less than those spiders. And a lunchbox locker isnt recommended with the add system.

Diff is commonly called the 7.5" clamshell.

7.5" and if it is a V6 TRD you have 4.10 gears. I have one collecting dust that I took out of my 3rd gen 4Runner. Throw up a shipped price offer if you are interested.

I ran an aussie locker in an 80 series land cruiser rear diff for years. Loved it in Moab and the Colorado mountain passes. Never had a single issue with it. Well built. I don't think you can go wrong with that one. Unless the slight ratchet sound while turning bugs you. It didn't bug me at all.

Thanks for the info. I drove my buddies TJ you can hardly tell. But that might be because he drives with both sway bars off and blown shocks, and you're trying to focus on not dying haha. It seems the people who actually run them say no problems occurred. I probably just won't bump to a 35 to be safe

I'm in contact with one of em already, the other has 4.56s and I can't afford to regear the rear (wished I could, it's an opportunity I'll regret down the line but oh well)
