...^^^... I am a civil engineer by education ... never used it except in college with US Army Corps of Engineers.

It's a good occupation ... especially with rebuilding the infrastructure in the USA. Engineering is a good base to do many other things too.

I went down a different path in life/career ... but the engineering background helped solve many other problems too.

Personal assistant to the general manager of a bar/music venue/restaurant called Puck, also an occasional bar-back. My boss, the GM, is a woman about 4 months older than me. We were good friends for about three years before she actually hired me as her personal assistant. My primary duties are running errands for her, getting stuff like liquor, food, and various supplies for the bar (I've hauled about five grand worth of booze in the bed of my Taco before), and getting the venue ready before it opens. I have an associate's degree in journalism (a lot of members notice how good my writing is), but I doubt I'll end up working for a newspaper or TV station. The current state of the media/press disgusts me. My awesome parents paid for my community college and have said they will cover the cost if I choose to continue my education a 4-year school, but I'm not that keen on going back to school.

Right now, I am weighing two career choices: HVAC technician and USAA claims adjuster. Once I get a full-time career, I will do what a lot of my friends/coworkers at Puck have done and supplement my primary income by working at Puck on weekends.
