So I may be taking my life in a different direction and part of this is possibly thinning the herd a little, but it has to make sense before I do it. This may include my 2009 DCSB TRD Offroad 4x. It has a little over 27,000 miles and is immaculate!!! When I say immaculate most wouldn’t believe how clean this truck is. A couple of years ago I installed a full suspension system consisting of total chaos upper and lower control arms (stock width race series lowers), icon extended travel, reservoired coilovers, icon rear 2” reservoired shocks, icon 3 leaf aal and icon hydraulic bump stops. Also installed U bolt flip kit with top strike plate for bumps, all pro heim joint sway bar endlinks, relentless fabrication bolt-on sliders with filler plates, TRD cold air intake and exhaust and black TRD trail team wheels with 285 75 16 bfg ko2’s. This whole setup only has about 2,000-2500 miles on it. Other items include hidden front light bar, relentless fabrication front bed corner brackets, ath bed stiffeners, carbon fiber front wheel well skirts (replaced rubber ones), weather tech floor matts front and rear and under-rail bed lights. Also has new matching size spare with matching wheel that I bought used but super clean. I am meticulous, almost to a fault, and I did all of the work on my own. I am very mechanically oriented and spent several of my 28 years with my employer working as an industrial mechanic so it’s done every bit as professionally, if not more than a shop would have done. If any of you out there will give me an honest appraisal based on what I’ve told you I’d appreciate it.

It all comes down to what people are willing to pay and also comparing it to new.

Many would prefer new if it meant only spending 5k-8k more. I know I would. Having said that, it doesn’t take away the value. You have obviously put lots of time into it and a good quality suspension and what not. The thing is to your average joe, that doesn’t mean squat. They will go by blue book. To the right person though, it may be worth it. If you were to sell it I’d highly suggest parting it out and then going from there. You may have more luck. Just food for thought.

The low miles and clean condition would mean I'd ask 'private party' + 3/4 of the delta to 'retail' + 50% of your aftermarket stuff.

Time is your friend, if you can be patient. Someone who has been shopping will like the setup and be willing to pay a bit of a premium for condition/miles.

There will be kickers come around that whine and moan about everything, including their budget and sick grandmother. Not your problem.

GLWS should you chose to proceed

If you have all the parts, maybe put it back OEM, sell the parts. Someone I know just got $19,000 on trade in for super clean, super low miles 2009 TRD Sport. The dealership had it sold before she signed the papers. With Tacoma's you can't go by book value, 2nd gens are like jeeps, people want them and will pay for them and there's always more people wanting to buy them, than trucks for sale.

That being said, most people prefer buying OEM stock trucks....

    My 2 pennies worth.

Thanks all for the feedback. If anyone wants to throw out any numbers that would be great. Not looking for offers just what you think it may be worth. Even though I kept the stock parts, except rear shocks (gave away on TW) and wheels/tires, I probably wouldn’t take it back to stock. I’d likely sit on it until the right person came along. I’m sure there’s more than 1 person out there that this truck is perfect for.

If you can sit on it for a while and wait for the right buyer, good plan! I think close to $30K.

If I was a prospective buyer and came across yours on Craigslist, I’d offer you $24000.

Main points behind my offer would be that it’s almost 10 years old (yes it is very clean), it’s a short bed, and I could get a brand new 18’ for about 10k more and that would be worth it to me to have something brand new and possibly have a bigger bed and also enhanced features as it is newer.

Just throwing out a number for you as requested and that would be my honest offer and logic.

It is a very clean truck and I hope you find someone who will give you what you’re looking for as you have cared for it!

Thanks guys! Appreciate the numbers. I know I could plug it into KBB or NADA but I know the suspension ect changes things. For some buyers it may hurt others it may help. That’s just st the part I’m not too sure of. Also I know if I let it go then that would be it. Probably not another like it for me again. Got to think long and hard....

Really nice truck, no doubt, & super low mi. But, to me, those two prices seem a little optimistic. I bought my 2013 4X4 appx 6 mo. ago, as yet, I've found no blemishes inside nor outside. It doesn't have your extras, came with 2" lift kit & new after mkt 20" wheels & tires, from a car lot, $16,000. If I could have found one from a private individual, maybe 13K to 14K. Some will appreciate your mods, but most won't want to pay much extra for them. You've got a really super nice truck, but it is 10 yr. old. Good luck, & I hope I'm wrong.

Is it an SR5 4x4? Or off-road or sport?

Any case, not sure where you are, but if you got a 2013 off-road or sport for $16,000, if I were you, I sell it in the southern US, make a $5,000+ profit, take the money, then go back to where you bought it, Buy another one, do it again... Etc... You would be a rich man!

You can't buy a perfect condition 2nd gen, low miles off-road or sport in south Louisiana for that! No matter what year!

:) That's my point, 2nd gen keep their value. Great trucks! If I could find them for $16,000 I could resell to local dealership for profit all day long, lol!
